quote: "A Nymph is a creature from mythology, like the sirens or dryads"
well, in fact dryads ARE nymphs =) Nymphs are (in short), the spirits and guarders of nature, divided into different places, with different parts to guard. Dryads for example are what you'd call "wood-nymphs" and live in the forests. Then there are a lot of other kinds of nymphs to as Oreads (mountain), Limoniads (meadows) and so on..
nice pic anyway =) | |
| 23 Jul 2004 | Yunie | Well you might be right about that mythological part i don't know but a nymph if you search it up in a dictionary it's got something to do with insects i don't remember what ow wait ill go look well it means an un grown form of a lower insect don't ask me what a lower insect is but i think a libel or something | |
| 1 Jan 2006 | Anonymous | quote: "well, in fact dryads ARE nymphs =)" Dryads=spirits that lives inside trees. Looks like "viny" humanoids when their out. Nymphs=Fey creatures that take care of animals and guards a particular spot in the forest. and they're DAMNDAMNDAMN hot;o Well, they are kinda fantasy creatures, and this is how I picture them Great pic anyways! | |
| 30 Nov 2006 | Majik | The type of nymph mentioned by Yunie (the insect type) I think is the youngest stage of an insect that undergoes incomplete metamorphosis. Mythological nymphs are nature spirits, dryads, naiads(water), and oreads are types of nymphs. A hamadryad is associated with one specific tree and her life is bound up with that of the tree. She's beautiful but more a faerie than a Nymph I would say. | |
| 31 Jan 2008 | Jacob Studer | The nymphs I draw are never like fairies! Though you might be mislead into thinking that they’re elves, they are neither. | |
