SciFi and Fantasy Art: Naga King

A naga king, holding a garland and a lotus flower. I got the design from a book of Indian art. It's really tough doing line art of a stone carving, and I was seeing scales everywhere after I finished the tail, so I'll be taking a little break..........Ah, I feel better now. On to the next project!

Bum and Ryan, i wish i could beat you with a mop handle! Ryan, i think you should open up your mind to diffrent art styles, ive seen plenty of art where nagas have full human bodys with snake tails like this and some with only human head and snake bodies and tails.i myself draw plenty of what you might call a wrong pic.its all a matter of oppinion. and bum, i think you know what you did wrong *taps foot while getting out the mophandle*

This picture sorta disappointed me, as i've always imagined nagas to be half - human , half - snke creatures with many arms. Fans of 3DO's "Might and Magic" and "Heroes of Might and Magic" series would know what I mean. Nonetheless, this is your imagination.

Dasha, before you nitpik on the artist get your facts right. Heroes of M&M is a great game, I'm addicted to it myself but it is not a relaible source of information concerning mythical creatures. Nagas are natives to Hindu myths, they have a head (or a whole upper torso) of a human and a cobra tail. The fact that in the computer games they wave swords always bugged me because in the stories all nagas are powerful magicians and it is with their magic that they fight. They also can shapeshift, even into a full human form and in that form they can have relashionships with humans. There is even a story of some Indian hero that married a naga princess and had a son with her. Anyway lots of Thanks to the artist for drawing a naga that is true to Hindu mythology.
