SciFi and Fantasy Art: Girl and Dragon

Another piece that everyone said should be over in Lothlorien. (There was a prefectly good reason for me camping out in the Zone--I didn't have enough strictly fantasy pieces when I applied.) Anyways, I was on this postcard kick and my friend, Sam, asked me to make him a dragon. And here it is. I drew a lot of dragons when I was younger....they were all over my homework from school. Stippled--pen and ink.

Wow, I sure wish I had the time and patience to learn something like this. Beautifully done

I'm not sure I know what "stipple" means. *blushes* Have to look it up I guess. Anyway, I like the dragon a lot. Somehow the picture gives me both collage (is that the English word - where the heck is my dictionary?!!) and pointillistic feelings. Would make a nice fairy tale-illustration.

Did some stippled drawings myself in my early years. This fairly good. This is a lost art and takes some devotion to the art to carry it through. Keep practicing and you'll find that your drawings look more like drawings and not little dots of ink. They're very impressive when they're mastered.I have some more stipple in my zone section. I quite enjoy it but haven't done any lately.

Stippled..heh heh..good job..I'm partial to ink works and the patience you use for a drawing like this must be enormous..

Stippling means making dots with your pen. To be successful you must have a decent pen and be about 158 times more patient than I am.

I really like your art (and your hair...LOL! I always wanted electric blue hair). I do alot of stippling work and I know how hard and time consuming it can be. I am not sure if this pic lost it's detail from being scanned and then shrunken but it needs more dark to define it...it loses some detail and becomes a little blurred. I like all your work. I am a realist artist who has no idea how to draw with a comp and who is trying to go a little looser by doing fantasy work (I did some dragons and unicorns in high school) and I REALLY appreciate work like yours as it is very good and VERY inspiring! 1
