SciFi and Fantasy Art: Legolas Greenleaf - portrait

03/30/2002. A number of factors accumulated recently to push me to draw a portrait of the wonderful Legolas. 1. I finally saw Lord of the Rings on big screen, 2. a fellow Tolkien fan had a birthday party yesterday and I badly needed a fairly inexpensive but original present, and 3. I still believe that Legolas is dark-haired (as a normal Mirkwood elf) and this drawing is my affirmation of this belief. I'm afraid that he doesn't have the ethereal expression of a true elf, he's rather weathered and gloomy, but anyway, maybe just a special mood of Legolas's...

that's great! we don't know the colour of legolas's hair and the quote of Eleth is right, but that don't mean he have black hair!argg my english is so bad!too bad i could do a better comment in French......anyway!black hair or not,he's still the best!personnaly i think he have blond hair like Thranduil(love that elf!!).Somebody said he's a Mirkwood elf and he must have black hair but leg is a Sinda elf(maybe his mother is a sylvan elf?By the way, what's the color hair of Sindar elves?!)

This is how I pictured Legolas when I read the book, brunette! Why do all pixies have to blonde if they live in the forest???? The movie made it out that way, but why? Wouldn't dark hair hide them better anyway?

I like it, I like it a lot.

Brown, blonde, red or black, it doesn't matter!! As long as it's long and sensuous, and not curly. I love the pic, it describes the way I feel he looks and doesn't comply with the "elves all have to be blonde pretty and pale" mentality. Keep going!! Me luvs it!!!

He doesn't look gloomy, he just looks shy.

He looks in thought and slightly ethereal like he's looking through you. Love the lips, they're hard to do. And does he look a little Native-American to anybody else? Not that that's bad, just kind of struck me.
