SciFi and Fantasy Art: Refreshment

*goes crosseyed* I swear I am not physically able to look at another clod of dirt for a very, very long time to come. This backgrond-thing drove me absolutely *mad*! I couldn't bear to draw any more than I have, for fear my eyes would pop out or my hand fall off, or something equally gruesome and unpleasant would happen to me and my poor overworked senses. >_< Anyway, I was trying to capture a sense of serenity, a feeling of comfortable lethargy and easy good-will, when Unicorns were admired for their beauty instead of hunted for their horns. And that's what came out. *sigh* At least it's over! Done with! Took me about 5 hours, spread over four or five days. Drawn using a putty eraser and a HB propelling pencil. Well, actually two, because I broke one half way through by rolling all the lead out and accidentally snapping it. *embarassed grin* Oops.

:-) Lucy McGrath replies: "*eyepop* Coming from you, queen of the equine, that must be Comment of the Century! Thank you so much! ^__^"

Though I agree that this drawing is beautiful, I must say through extensive experience with horses that the neck of the animal in question is too long.
But other than that, it's gorgeous. Keep up the beautiful work!1

I like the neck- i think it adds to the mythical sense of the creature and keeps it from being just another horse with a cone on its forehead. Good job ^-^

I'm sorry about your poor overworked senses but it must have paid off. This is simply gorgeous. And poo on the neck, it can be fixed!

You're really a good drawer, without question (OK, the neck...).
But must say, that this is no unicorn. That's simply a horse with an artificial horn stuck on its forehead.

:-) Lucy McGrath replies: "And an elf is a human with pointy ears; an angel merely the same with wings. What's your point? Fantasy art is entirely subjective. But thank you for commenting, and complimenting! 1"

This is very nice. If it weren't for the neck (I know, I know, everyone said it) and the forelegs being too short, this could be from life. And I HATE people who say 'You did so-and-so wrong and I know because I have 5,428 horses.' It's just so pointless and show-offy! Rant over, very nice picture.
