I keep meaning to delete this. I haven't had any interest in Elfwood for the better half of a decade. Every once and a while someone will comment on a picture, I'll get an email, and be reminded of it. I figured I would have been deleted due to inactivity years ago.

I just wanted to say how much I love your work. Your work is sweet and fun; it should be in children's books and on greeting cards. Thank you for bringing sunshine into the world and thanks for sharing.

Stopped by to let you know I didn't forget about you. I still love your drawings, and I'm glad you've decided to stay on elfwood. I like being amongst such lovely talent! I really like the trick or treat piece. I actually did the corny "aaawwwwwwww" thing outloud. I'm so ashamed! ;p I better go watch Mortal Kombat before I go too soft!

:-) Magnolia Blaire Busse replies: "Aw, I know you wouldn't have forgotten about me! Yeah, overall, I'm glad I stayed too.. there are a lot of things I don't like, but the people really make it worthwhile. Man, I've gotten fuzzy and soft in my old age, ...I better come watch some Mortal Kombat too -- perhaps a little Die Hard later."

Well, now that I know you a little better on elftown I figure it's about time that I come and leave a word here. I think your art is very cute, and although I'm generally not a fan of cute art, I do think that it is very good and definitely deserves praise.

I see that you sign your art "sugar magnolia" you wouldn't happen to be a dead head would you? Your art's awesome. It's just so cute!

:-) Magnolia Blaire Busse replies: "Not exactly. It's more of an inside joke.. with a few choice people who were quite uncreative in making fun of my name back in 'The Day'. "

I really enjoy your art, it's such a fabulous style.

These kinds of things would be so awesome for children's books.

The way you do the eyes on them is so cute. They look so soft and sweet and the eyelashes are so fluffy, they look a lot like doe's eyes. I really like it. And the somewhat chubby little bellies just...ugh they are all so hugable.

You're a wonderful artist, I'd love to see more 2

Hm, life is full of all kind of curious changes, is it not? Remeber what you wrote me five years ago?

"Dec 3 2001 Elfwood artist: Magnolia Blare Busse
Cute work, but umm... don't you HAVE to update every 6 months or so to remain on Elfwood? ...and if you choose not to update anymore, why don't you be kind and leave the woods... allow space for people who care and wish to share their work with us. Don't be selfish."

And here you are, saying your stuff is three to five years old. Oh well.

But seriously, I came here to comment on your artwork. And I have to admit I really like it. It's a fluffy, whimsical style of beauty. Fleeting. The soft colour go with the lines. Why don't you do it anymore? I don't think you should abandon drawing.

The mermaid is my favourite, she looks so innocent.

:-) Magnolia Blaire Busse replies: "I can't apologize for something I said 5 years ago, seeing as I don't remember, and neither would you if it wasn't for the abyss of crap that is the internet. I wouldn't know about this comment if it wasn't for some default setting that I will look into changing. It’s no surprise I was rude then. I’m rude now, so how much really could have changed? Oh right, I was sixteen then. ...it’s a world of difference, as I am sure you remember from high school, to university, to the real world. Don’t let stupid children (including myself) get under your skin. If I could go back in time, I would kick my own ass. I didn't abandon art, more often than not it pays my bills. I just gave up on these. They were an experiment that I can only say at best was a failure."

    Hey there,
I didn't mean to hold it against you. I _really_ thought it was curious: I gave up on the woods back then, and now that I come back and visit old aquaintances, I see that you did, too. I kinda struck me.

But you're right, it did get under my skin, way back then, but that was for other reasons. You couldn't know them.

Anyway, I am glad you're still painting, and can even make a living with it. I do not think these pictures here were a failure, though. And you shouldn't think so, either. They were a part of you, once, and at least a step on your way. Toddling and crawling seems silly now that you can walk, but it was necessary and thus a good thing you did it.

Besides, I like the funny little pics you made then, and I disagree with you five-years-old opinion: I think you should leave them here, for they can still bring a smile, or a creasing of brow, or some joy to someone. I like them.

    Take care, girl.
