SciFi and Fantasy Art: A Fiery Flower (AKA: Woman Warrior)

Now, I did not draw the actual begining picture for this one, but I was the one who colored it in. Her Red dress symbolizes the bloody lifestyle she leads. I put a lot of different bright colors into this picture and chose reds and purples for the main colors. The original picture is here and was done by a good anime artist called Rikke. The way the colors could be taken is by how often the poisonous animals in nature are the most colorful. This is not a powderpuff woman and is NOT fragile. I was experimenting with different coloring techniques this time and found a very interesting way to do so. All the flames were done with the help of all the special effect options in photoshop as well as a tutorial on how to make flames. thanks for letting me do this Rikke! ^_^

Oh, magnificent! Excellent work on how you got those reflection of the flames on her body! Fantastic! For the flame lighting on her body, I used a dodge tool on the highlights option and tried for a mottled look kinda like flames.

Well, I put this picture on my guided tour, One that has a theme of warrior women. Make sure to try the tour when you can, I found a lot of really neat pictures to use for the tour.

Guess I ought to put up a comment as well ^-^. I love what you done to the pic, I could hardly recoknice it first time I saw it (I almost fell down of my chair ^_~) Thankyou so much! I didn't knew how much colour could do to a pic before I saw this. I know how you feel, I remember the same thing. I once was browsing through elfwood and came across a really neat picture in the original picture and the colored. Both were really different in kinda the same way that my coloring job changed yours.

The lighting is awesome! Great colors too, she kinda reminds me of the red-leather-wearing-dominatrix-type characters from Richard Goodkind's Sword of Truth series whose names are escaping me at the moment…Dang! Hmm, never read that, oh darn, now I need to read another book, oh well. One less hour or so of time. *grins because she is a really fast reader*

you're so awesome at coloring~ love it! the lighting effects looks fab here, and really add to the atmosphere~ great colors, too! 1 I wanted to do something with brighter colors than I normally would choose. My favorite colors are natural tones of blues, greens, and browns. I tried for a sort of extravagant color choice here. (pardon spelling)

She speaks to me... I like the expression, actually... kind of cocky, u know?? It's awesome, I wish I could do this...

Well, extravagant certainly is the right word for it... This is a gorgeous picture, although I don't think that the mottled lighting really works right... Only nitpick I have is that that is one impractical outfit, and, well, you didn't draw it. Kudos on the coloring, though!
