SciFi and Fantasy Art: Eleanor

This must be Gretchen's cousin. For some reason, they look alike, but not quite. This one was fun. Fantasy art with pastels is pretty challenging to me. I seem to want to put in all this detail and the large pieces of 'chalk' make that difficult, particularly at this size. The pastel pencils my wife got for me make the details easier, but they're just not as controllable as the colored pencils. On the other hand, this one was completely finished in a couple of sessions so the pastels are faster by far. Also, with the pastels, you paint light over dark most of the time--something that is very tricky with colored pencils. You can 'erase' much more easily, too...hmmm, maybe I should rethink this 'colored pencils are easier' thing... Pastel and pastel pencils on orange paper. 10x8'
