| 24 Sep 2002 | Corné H. 'Tilion Herusornëa' Nuijten | Hey Noa, great to be able to check out your art anytime I want, it's always to nice to have someone to discuss digital painting with, thanx. Marlies Peeters replies: "hehe, yeah well, that's a little easier than checking it up in the thread at the forum!" | |
| 27 Sep 2002 | Mark Stijnman | In a way drawing female faces is easier, that's true, and you already seem quite adept at it. So I suggest you should just try a male face once. Give it a more square face, more chin (a dent in the chin will also help make it look more masculin), a more pronounced nose and straight eyebrows that are closer to the eyes. See what comes out. BTW, if you want to get into contact with other dutch Elfwood artists, you may also want to check out DutchElfwood at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dutchelfwood and http://dutchelfwood.mine.nu. At the Yahoo group we recently had a discussion about the difference in difficulty in drawing male or female faces - some actually find drawing female faces more difficult Marlies Peeters replies: "Thanks for the tips! And I heard of the Dutch Elfwood indeed, I'll check it out sometime, thanks." | |
| 3 Oct 2002 | Monique F. Dorst | Marlies! That photograph up there is extremely cool and als very unrecognisable. I think I already commented on most of your artwork, but I'll just say again that I still like it. Keep up the good work! Marlies Peeters replies: "Yeah, I know, that picture is always confusing people!" | |
| 20 Mar 2003 | Morwen Eledhwen | Guess what I found while wandering in the woods? *grin* I probably told you a hundred times already, but I really admire your Photoshop skills (and the other drawings too!) And when will I be seeing more of your work? (I know you're working on another piece...) Marlies Peeters replies: "Thanks, Margriet! And I'm always working on another piece, just not finishing it.. " | |
| 23 Oct 2003 | James sabinsabin@yah...com | Hey, cool stuff! When i was seven or eight i was copying anything out of comic books and sketching trees and cars whizzing past my roof perch. When i was fifteen, suffice to say that you're better than i was when i was fifteen. I like your "water witch" rendition (photoshop or painter? I do everything in painter - until i get my new mac and get illustrator going, w00t!). Specifically, i like the eyes. I think that the eyes capture a lot in facial pics, i notice that you were disappointed with said eyes, but i think that you've got a good thing going (jeez, the horror or cross-eyed people from way back when). The lips look nice and textured too. Gah, i've babbled far too much. So cool art and site. Ever considered drawing anime (again, the eye fascination). Marlies Peeters replies: "Hey, thanks for your comment! The Water Sorceress pic is done mostly in Painter, I think.. I can't quite remember... Well, most of my stuff is at the moment, I use Photoshop more for touch-ups, resizing and the like. Anime? Well, I occasionally get bored of realism, and then I do some anime-ish stuff, but it's not that good really, I usually adapt a style to my own liking anyway. But you can check out http://www.theravensnest.biz/forum/album_personal.php?user_id=4 , that's another gallery of mine with some more recent work, and occasionally some anime might show up there too.
