SciFi and Fantasy Art: Axe Thingy

This is a weapon from the Darksun campaign setting for AD&D. I can't think of what it is called right now but it is made from the sharpened jaw of some animal attached to a wooden handle. I draw quite a few kind of things like this but this is the first with the cool blood. I think it turned out pretty good. To prove my point that I am a doodler not an artist, I drew this one while waiting for a web site to load.

21 Jul 2000	Ryan	Loading... it's a carrikal, often fashioned from a jaw bone of some creature of the Athas wastes. Idealy, there should be spikes along the handle close to blade to avoid anyone grabbing it.

17 Mar 2001	Cray	Loading... I played the dark sun campaign for about 2 years and that's a variation of a carrikal. The blade is made from the jawbone of a... can't rembember the name, but the handle is supposed to be made out of another part of the same animal that has spikes all along it's length. A skilled warrior can attack with the blade and then rake the spikes on the shaft across his foe for extra damage. I drew dozens of these while we played, and that's a pretty good drawning.
26 Jan 2002	JP, the All Purpose Dude	Loading... I DM a Dark Sun campaign, and know the carrikal well. Sadly enough, I hear that they're throwing it out in third edition. Bummer, huh? Stupid WotC... Oh well, I'm not here to rant. Awesome pic. Love the blood drip.
