SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Escape

I love horses! This was my first attempt to do the horse's anatomy <--- probably spelt to wrong- I'm a horrible speller] It was just gonna be a normal horse, but I decided to add horns. Since I usually see single horns and feathered wings I changed it and made them 'dark' horses with tatored leather bat wings. I made it kinda like they lost a battle and are reteating. I worked on this picture off and on during class and never just sat down and just drew it. I think the horses are too chartoony still, I hope to make the horses more realistic when I finalize the picture. **Tell me what's wrong plz**

Hmmm...I think the hindquarters could use some work, and the wing/shoulder attachement doesn't look quite natural. Try some expiramenting with that part. On a good note, I love the feeling of motion you have, and those horns are totally cool. Great idea, hope to see the finished product.

well, i know you want to get the exact look of a horse, but i like ur style of drawing them, never loose that. You can be able to express yourself and ur ability. Though it isn't EXACTLY what a horse should look like, but it is a GREAT picture! I agree with MOST of the comments made before, but still, forget all that and concentrate on being you, not making things look exactly the way they should... you'll neve be satisfied, trust me, i know. But if you're really intent on learning how to draw the exact anatomy, then watch them in real life, look at books, and practice practice practice!!!!

Wow! You're first try? That's better than what I can do now, *blush* You've got it worked out pretty nice I think especially for school work. For the legs, I think they do need to be a bit thicker, sas Ludovica said. And the wings look a bit small to me but that could have been wha tyou wanted.

hehe, I have been around horses my entire life, and I think this is a wonderful first attempt!! However, the legs could use a little more depth, as well as the barrel (the curve of the under belly) unless you were aiming for an Akhal-Teke/Thoroughbred hybrid. I think it is VERY cute, and erin, I HAVE seen horses with extremely long backs, particuarly race horses, and this horse IS running!! *claps* very cute, I like it a lot.

Ummmm...to let you know your "horses" have a HUGE problem....they seem to have worms...on their head....thought I would let you know that.

Wow well i think the pic is really good, maybe if you added some more shadows and muscle definition it would help. Oh and about what everyone said how the horses are too skinny... Well if you make them really boney( show some ribs and really big joints) they would look really demonic, and that could go with the horns and leather wings.

I like how you made each horse unique from each other- one has longer horns, etc. The feeling of movement is also excellent. I'd suggest studying photographs for the hindquarters and tail, more shading to set each one apart from each other, and maybe set the eye a teensy bit farther from the top of the head- though that last one is just my personal preference. 2 Otherwise, a job well done!
