SciFi and Fantasy Art: Wizard Bewitched

Nimue/Viviane is sort of an ambiguous figure in Arthurian legend, while she seduces Merlin into teaching her his magic by refusing to give him her love until he has taught her all his secrets,and then when he does, she uses her power to trap him beneath a stone. She also aides King Arthur, Lead the Fairy Hunt and is one of those who is on the Boat that carries Arthur to Avalon....

here she guides Merlin along the forest paths, flirting with the old Wizard learning his secrets. Because Merlin could see the future he is well aware of what is happening, but is so overpowered by his desire to stop it.

15 Oct 2006	AlpineBob	Loading... I guess no one has noticed this gem yet, so I get to be first to go, "Ooooooh!" The gorgeous landscape nicely frames the figures - I'm especially fond of the fall foliage in the foreground, but it's all great. And the figures themselves tell a story - an eager maid leading on an old man, and the old mage whose desires are twain - his head says no, but his heart over-rules. I can sympathise...
