SciFi and Fantasy Art: Experiments in Absurdity #1: Beenana

You know, there are so many pics out there of animal/human, animal/animal, human/plant hybrids, but what about animal/fruit hybrids? Well, why not, eh? Fruit are living things, too. In some parallel universe (one invented by some god for a joke, possibly), there's probably creatures just like this buzzing around. (Impractically, but who cares about practicality anyway?)

Although, it'd make for crunchy pavlovas.

And banana-flavoured honey.

Yay for weirdness! ^^

~~*~~

The pale greyish bits are actually where the scanner light reflected off the graphite. Grawr. >.< Extremely annoying. I attempted to edit the worst of the glare out with Paint Shop Pro, but I really can't be bothered with computer image programs (much prefer traditional mediums). I didn't want to mess up the pic entirely by trying to paint digitally over it, so, meh. If anyone knows how to reduce/avoid 'graphite glare' or a quick way to fix it, let me know...

Yellow acrylic wash base, coloured pencils and graphite pencils.

Don’t use graphite? o_O? I dunno... probably some fixative would help...

But this one is really good, seriously. In fact, I believe this is the point where I level a banana gun at your head and threaten you about something of which I have no right to be threatening you about...

:-) Megan ´Angler´ Proverbs replies: "’Don’t use graphite’. Yeah, I figured that out about two seconds after I’d scanned it. >.< Eh, I think it’s just that the paper wasn’t flat, because I painted on sketch paper that buckled. And/or the scanner lid not closing properly because I didn’t bother taking it out of the sketchbook... ^^;

Thanks. I almost didn’t draw it because I thought it’d be too dumb. ^^; But then I was bored, so I did, and it turned out okay, and everyone seems to like it, so it’s all good. ^^

*wields a kiwi-fruit grenade* Aha! A Mexican fruit standoff!

Oh yes? And what would that be? Oh, wait. I was supposed to be drawing you, wasn’t I? Oops. *shifty eyes* Err... ^^;"

This is for sure one of the oddest, most creative things i have ever seen.... *claps* I like it!

:-) Megan ´Angler´ Proverbs replies: "Thank you!"

Actually, I was refering to the fact that holy crap that is bloody amazing, and seriously, we both need to have more faith in ourselves.

And I have actually forgotten completely about that pic... but now you have remindde me. Whoo...

I bet I can presse the button before you can throw your grenade... *presses*
*splattage ensues*

But anyway, *poke* *poke* *poke* ^^

:-) Megan ´Angler´ Proverbs replies: "Hmm, yes, we do... Okay, I’ll quit insisting I suck if you quit insisting you suck. Agreed?

Oh, damn. >.<

*is bananafied* *drops kiwi grenade which explodes, splattering everyone on the page*

Ugh. I’m really bad at drawing people. Can’t I draw something else, like... one of your kitties? Or a flying toaster? ^^;;"

What an awful pun LOL

:-) Megan ´Angler´ Proverbs replies: "Oh, don’t worry, there’ll be more. Bwahaha!"

Graphite reflection can be annoying.... I generally play around with my scanner’s settings in the "preview" area before I actually scan the work, but I don’t know if your scanner has that option. Other than that, there’s not much you can do when scanning. I try to avoid it by inking my drawings with black ink and erasing the pencil marks.

:-) Megan ´Angler´ Proverbs replies: "Okay, I’ll try that. Thanks for the tips. ^^"

:-) Megan ´Angler´ Proverbs replies: "Well it would be an interesting taste sensation, wouldn’t it, lol. Thanks!"

No.

:-) Megan ´Angler´ Proverbs replies: "No I can’t draw something else, or no you won’t quit insisting that you suck?"

Yummy, bananna honey! I want some now. 18 Amusing concept, and exquisitely detailed realistic execution. The best of both worlds! 1

:-) Megan ´Angler´ Proverbs replies: "Maybe I’ve invented something new: banana honey. I could market that! 1"

Yes.

:-) Megan ´Angler´ Proverbs replies: "Yes?"

You can’t draw anything else, and I won’t quit insisting that I suck.

I think.

So how goes the picture, anyway? Any progress? Any at all?

:-) Megan ´Angler´ Proverbs replies: "Er... ah, crap. I’ve been so preoccupied lately..."
