SciFi and Fantasy Art: Princess Anura

"Anura is an order of animals in the class Amphibia that includes frogs and toads." (Wikipedia)

A frog princess, who lives in a mysterious misty swamp somewhere, luring handsome men to their doom and turning them into cute little froggies. The mask is magical and binds her into humanoid form for as long as she wears it. It also prevents her from speaking-- for if she should speak, if she should utter a single word, she would transform back into her true form: a hideous, slimy monster.

So goes the nice little story I made up on a whim, just like this portrait. It actually started off as a random doodle of her eye, and then a head evolved around it, and funky ears and a mask thing. And then I thought she looked rather amphibious, so I thought of frogs... No references were used, so the proportions are prolly a bit messed up. ^^; And yes, those weird things on her head are ears.

Also, the shading with the lighter regions at the edges of her nose make it look rather boxy... of course, such could be attributed to the fact that she is, after all, a frog lady... O.o Uhm... at least the part about luring "innocent" men and transform them into cute thingies. ^^ The slimy monster part I think I can skip... Or exchange with demonish and/or catish monster? (like i do most of your other pics) Megan ´Angler´ Proverbs replies: "I don’t think I’d ever drawn a frog before this one... (well, not as an adult, anyway; possibly I did as a kid) so I had no idea how it was gonna turn out. ^^; They’re not all that hard, just bendy legs, long toes and big eyes. ^^ Actually, this whole pic turned out better than I expected (except for the nose), considering I’m not really great at drawing people. (Although it helped that I only had to draw half her face. Heheh.)"
