SciFi and Fantasy Art: Darkhan the lupogryph

This is one of my newer RP characters, a gryphon variant known as a lupogryph, part avian, part lupine. Specifically, Darkhan is a mix of falcon and grey wolf, hence his coloring. His stance is intended to indicate that he's taking off, how do you folks think I did indicating that?

Very cool pic, and a cool idea! I especially like the wings... 2 Thank you. The wings are the part I'm most proud of, actually, they are the closest I've come to what they should really look like yet. At least, that's what I think...

Ooooh. Lupogryph. Very very nice 2 I love gryphons, especially lupogryphs. My own RPG char is a gryphon too, a doggiegryph actually. She looks a bit like your char 2 I really like your pic, 'tis a vary pretty drawing. I just love the wings. Neat feathers! It would look even better if you coloured it. Just with some coloured pencils or something. That would really make it beautiful. Thanks much! Ah, gryphons...gotta love those oversized fuzzballs! I like gryphs, I like wolves...so he's a natural extension of that. Anyhow, coloring this is on my list of things to try, so hopefully I'll be able to get around to that soon and put it up for comparison.

i like the picture idea and the wings are pretty good. o yeah...practice makes perfect...or something... Heh. Thanks. Practice does make for better art, at the least, if not perfection. Evidently, I've succeeded with the wings on this guy, I'll have to remember how I did them.

I think you have potential. I liked this sketch, but as for the stance, wanting it to seem like the lupogryph is taking off, I would raise the top half of the lupogryph up a few centimeters and add a cliff or something underneath it to show that it is preparing to take flight. Thanks for the advice, makes sense, and I think I'll use it on my next rendition of a gryphon taking flight. Hopefully it'll improve it a tad.

Very nice detail and markings on the wings. Wings can be one of the hardest things to draw, sometimes harder than faces and hands, but you're doing well. Perhaps you could show some more form and musculature on the gryphon's body. Looking at pictures and anatomy diagrams of big cats and wolves will help with that alot! Good stance on this critter, too! I like how his front right leg is lifted and his back legs are bent, like he's about to leap into the air.
