I really liked the juxtoposition of neat organization (attention to proportion and detail, for example)and imagination. You may feel conflicted, but your work seems like very well grounded fantasy. : ) Maybe the eediot art teacher gave you something after all.

Firedance is by far my fave. You have great potential and are quite good. Keep working at it. I am never satisfied with my work and it motivates me to continue. I probably will never be satisfied. I think it is a great feeling, but I don't let it overwhelm or depress me. PS. Don't let anyone tell you you don't have an imagination. We all have one. It is whether we want to act upon it that makes the difference. You are choosing to use your imagination by drawing. I can say from personal experience..that being true to yourself is the best philosophy. No matter what others say to you, you are your own guide and ruler. You are your own person and artist. Good Luck!

Uhhh..hiya! Your work is very beautiful indeed. However I have one question, in attempt to find a long LONG lost best friend of mine, who happens to be named "Claire Murphy" a search showed this website. (Shows how much of a life I *don't* have. ) Anyways, I was just wondering if you remember having an old best friend in Texas back..in like...kindergaten...named Micah Mitchell. Bah, if you have *no* clue who I am, just totally disregard this, but if it rings any bells, please e-mail me at Darkdeathkitten@hotmail.com (Yeah, I have elfwood too, however it is taking forever to update it all and put the correct info. Take a look see at mah gallery if you are interested.)

Dear, there are teachers and then there are quacks. The people that told you you should just draw what you see and that you have no imagination are idiotic, egocentric, artistic bigots with no right to the teaching degrees they hold (the language above would have been more colorful except that this is a curse-free site. Just know that I am severely pi$$ed off!) If Michael Whelan, Dan Frasier, M.C. Escher, Dali, and all other fantastic artists just drew what they saw, I can guarentee that they would not be half so successful as they are/were, and art would be far less rich and intriguing. Personally, I don't walk down Main Street, turn to my friend and say "Hey! There's a bunch of melting clocks! I think I'll draw them!" Is it any wonder why the picture described above is a famous print in art textbooks and galleries around the world while your art teacher will probably never even turn up in a art reference footnote? I think not. Imagination and originality belong to the world, and as you are part of the world, you have the capability to delve into them as much as you will. Keep dreaming!

honey, anyone with half a brain can see that you are very talented, and the teacher that told you that obviously has no clue. i think firedance and seachild are the best, but they are all really good! i think youve got real potential! so keep up the cool work!

SHAME!!!
SHAME ON THOSE TEACHERS!!!
HOW DARE THEY BE ALLOWED TO LAY THEIR OWN EGOCENTRIC AND COMPLETELY JACK-A** OPINION ON A STUDENT????

Every student who bears an interest in the subject should never be discouraged in using the tool that are necessary to the job. Art especially requires imagination as well as a grasp of reality.

You have talent and the desire to improve. You need nothing else but to draw to please yourself. I truly enjoyed looking at your work, and was appalled when I read that your art teacher had opened his or her big mouth and swallowed his or her foot up to his or her a**...

Please forgive my vulgarity, and never give up. If you want it, you will have it. Just keep drawing and practice will be your teacher, and also your greatest reward, because some of your best work will come out when you least expect it.
Art is pretty amazing that way.
