SciFi and Fantasy Art: Brianna and Zhaylon

this is Brianna, one of my characters in my elfwood story "Fire Wind." behind her, her dragon Zhaylon, stays in the necklace around Brianna's neck until he is summoned. well, Brianna is strong-willed, fiery, passionate, and sometimes gentle. Zhaylon can be a little protective of her, but he understands when she wants to be alone. He is almost exactly like Brianna except that he usually gentle and caring, and clean. very clean. a little too clean. no, he doesn't actually look like that (without wings and legs) but he is just being summoned at the moment.

ack! i can't write a description today. well, i luv this pic! i just had to put it on Elfwood or i'd go insane. my scanner took away a lot of the color and put all these smudges on it, so...um...sorry for that. i orginally wanted Zhaylon to be a white dragon, but me, being the lazy slob i am, didn't want to find another way to do that, so i made him grey. sorry, Zhay! =P that is the Japanese symbol for "dragon." at least, i think it is. XP

That dragon is almost biting its own tail. Is that a computer generated texture on the body? Or did you colour it on a surface like perhaps a paving slab? It’s a great texture.

14 Natalie Beth Myers replies: "a dragon would never bite its own tail! humph! *looks away from Dave, insulted* no, i used the cover of a book for the scales. i cheated. =P"

I knew you had used something like that. It’s an interesting technique. Very much like brass rubbing. (If you know what that is 12) And it was a snake biting its tail that I was thinking of. An Orobouros.

16 Natalie Beth Myers replies: "um...okay. no, i don’t know what brass rubbing is. should i? o.O "

Wow, nice! I like the texture of his scales. And the Japanese symbol is really effective (and looks so nicely written!) Looks like an interesting story, too; maybe I’ll find a chance to read it between all my evil school work!! 2
