SciFi and Fantasy Art: Stone Dragon

My dad kept nagging me into drawing dragons again, I used to draw them all the time. This one used to have arms but I figured it'de look more like a dragon if I took them off. Let us see what you think.
*Done in normal mech. pencil*

Okay....I'm confused. There are Dragons, Wyvrens (yes misspelled) and Drakes. What is the difference between them?

I love drawing Dragons (Dragons=any dragon-like creatures)
and when i saw this it made my heart happy!!! ssry, had to get that out. I'm glad you decided to create this! PRIMA!!!!!!!!

:-) Nathaniel S. Summers replies: "i do not know the difference. thanks for the compliment."

Ummm I think the difference between a dragon and a wyvren is in the body structure. If I remember right, a wyvren has wings and only one other set of limbs and a dragon has all four normal limbs and wings. But I think you can have a dragon that has only one set of limbs or that has no limbs at all and is just a big serpent with or without wings. The only one that's even remotely specific is a drake which has no wings but has 4 limbs and only two varieties: fire and ice. It's so convuluded that the descriptions overlap each other sometimes with wyvrens and dragons. The way I see it, it's an opinion thing. If you call it a dragon and it's only got two legs, it's a dragon. If you call it a wyvren, it's a wyvren (unless it has 4 legs. Then it's automatically a dragon! 2 ) I hope this helps anyone who's looking.

Great pencil work...I have to also say--I love the way you sign your name!

Hehe yeah your signiture is cool! ^.^ There's something about it, i'm not sure what, but it makes it look like it's stone. Maybe it's the light shades, i really don't know exactly, but truly quite a clever effect.

Hes beautiful!! The shading and line work are excellent and I love the way you have given the skin on his wings that floppy look the way it should be when his wing's aren't extended. But personally I think he would have looked better with arms!!

to clear up someone's question, dragons have 4 legs, what nathan drew is a wyvern, and drakes are like small quick dragons. if i'm wrong, someone please correct me.
awesome drawing nathan, even if the poor creature is confused about what he is! 10

Very nice. The scale work is fantastic.
Although I think he looks a bit off balance. I would have liked to see it with the arms, but that's me.
