this is my male dryad. he has spent many long years perfecting his technique, and finally he is able to translate every emotion and some sensations into fire! this tallent is generally feared and unheard of amongst his dryad kin. but he no longer fears fire, in fact, he is unable to be damaged by fire! it now only adds to his spirit. he is the first of many dryad monks who will become the CinderWood Dryads, it will not be easy. he does know his own style of martial arts, but refreins from killing. he is also an empath(he feels the emotions of others as if they were his own).
i felt like drawing a guy, havent drawn one of them in a while! then i figured it might as well be a dryad! then i figured that i might as well model his features after my own; yes my body looks... sort of like that, and i have curly hair! *Done with mech pencil and colored in psp and photoshop*
*shivers* very kool...And freeky with the fire inside him and everything, very well done *shivers once more* Nathaniel S. Summers replies: "i find it interesting that the prospect of an inner fire makes you shiver. lol. thanks."
If it weren't so late at night I'd check through the rest of your gallery, but this one caught my eye cause of the color the color here is very attractive. I know its probably not very helpful, but there was at least 2 things I wanted to comment on- while that left hand looks Amazing, the right one doesn't look quite right... and the lava/ember thing on his chest isn't as realistic as the rest.. wish i could see the picture bigger while i wrote this lol, so i could figure out what it was about it.. anyways, other than that, WOW, hehehe, I must say you have talent.
ciao for now =) & gl Nathaniel S. Summers replies: "thanks! i am aware the hands look strange... the left hand is a little too big and it doesnt stand out well against that background... i should have spent more time on his chest... i wanted to give it the illusion of splitting wood as it turns to embers... i didnt get it nearly as good as i would have liked to... thanks for the crit! ^_^"

Another liking of mine. I always associated antlers with fauns not Dryads. Maybe it is only me. A very nice idea though. You really suceeded in making it graceful and in a way, I can see how the Dryad is accepting it's fate. I just thought of something else too. Aren't Dryads supposed to be females normally? Another odd touch. I love it. Nathaniel S. Summers replies: "it's not only you. i am attempting to build my own style of dryad. the antlers and horn-like protrusions from his elbows are actually made of wood. and yes, dryads are historically female. perhaps males are just a rarity? thanks."
i know it doesn’t hurt him... but it sure looks painful... He has pretty lips… and I like his hair… the picture stands out a lot, because it is green and red… opposites and what not, you know. Then it has the brown, a neutral colour that just brings together enough to keep your eyes from hurting… very well drawn… kudos!
Very pretty. Yeah, dryads are usually female, but so what? Geez, people. Ever hear of creative license? It's nice to see something unique once in awhile. Besides, where do little dryad babies come from if there are no males? (yes, i'm aware that they are spirits of trees and whatnot) Very well done, and a nice change of pace. Love the bright, vibrant colors.
