SciFi and Fantasy Art: Harpy Sculpture

Harpies are one of my favourite mythological creatures, also one which has a million different interpretations. This is more or less how I see one.

I used a wire armature with super sculpey for the main body, then I baked it, and added some sculpey III for detail. I baked it again, then painted the legs and face. Then I added some feathers and boa yarn, dyed fleece and a ribbon flower for the hair, and finally a little wire tiara with a rhinestone inset. Overall, I'm content with how it turned out, frankly I'm amazed she stands up on her own. :D If you want to see pictures from other angles, check the next image in the gallery.
