SciFi and Fantasy Art: Squid Dragon

I truly think that squid are among the most unappreciated animals in the world. The squid is a beautiful creature. So I wanted to do a picture that somehow captured that essence... And I thought, 'I've never seen a winged squid or squid-like dragon before'... So, this is what I produced. Dragon squid, complete with 'sea unicorn' and 'wacky bird-eel thing'. And the anglerfish is freaky enough as it is, so I didn't need to modify it at all.

....It looks crazy, I know. And it's watercolour, if that wasn't obvious. =D

The beak is in the wrong place. But it's COLORFUL!!!!!!!!!

:-) Nico Danell replies: "I'd agree with you if it were a squid. As it stands, it's a squid-dragon (squagon?) so the beak can be wherever it damn well pleases. 1 "

Blissfully different!

:-) Nico Danell replies: "Different is also good."

Definitely under appreciated! Just like hippos are (I ran accross a gallery not to long ago that lamented the lack of hippo art). They seem to make awesome "little" dragons! I guess everyone's just "afraid" of the task of making anything related to a squid...or else the ones from Mario Bros has turned them away forever 12
The color choices are wonderful- very oceanic, he almost looks like he'd be an illustration or something...Looks cool. -Kay

:-) Nico Danell replies: "Thank you much! I also like hippos. But SQUID are great."

We sure wouldn't want to see one of those flying (or swimming?) at us! Excellent work, and keep up the great job of following Elfwood's rules!

:-) Nico Danell replies: "Oooh... You're most welcome! *salutes* Thank YOU for keeping Elfwood clean and tidy! "

Yaaayy! Squid! I likes squid, the way they change color and the texture of their skin is cool, wish I could. Squid are definatly underappretiated.

:-) Nico Danell replies: "Indeed they are! Thanks!"

Hehe, what a trippy idea. This is awesome. I dunno how useful those wings are going to be underwater though ^-^

Hmm... Why am I suddenly reminded of Cthulhu?
Squid are definitely unappreciated, and it's nice to see a fantasy squid. I think I can honestly say I've never seen a squid dragon before. And it's so tidy, too!
