SciFi and Fantasy Art: Faery in Stasis

Undisputable proof that I *definitly* need more practice at watercolor painting. Still, I think it's a vast improvement over my last attempt at watercolor... No, you won't see that one posted.

The proportions are good. The clothing is good! I like the butterfly-like wings! Good Pic!

:-) Niki 'Jedi Wolf Sister' Patton replies: "*speculative look at the pic* I have to say that I'm not realy impressed with her proportions actualy. I think the only reason I'm keeping her around is her wings."

I like the wings! And the colors are beautiful!!!

:-) Niki 'Jedi Wolf Sister' Patton replies: "Thanks. I honestly think those wings are the only reason I havn't taken her down yet."

I love the wings, the colours and the strong black outlines look great. It gives off a cool stained glass effect.

:-) Niki 'Jedi Wolf Sister' Patton replies: "You know, you're right! I always have loved stained glass. Probably a subconcious influence when I made her."

the face is to long but other than that it ROCKS!!

:-) Niki 'Jedi Wolf Sister' Patton replies: "Yeah... The face and arms both... Though realy I think maybe it's the whole head, not just the face. But I am pretty happy with the colors if not the proportions and lack of shading."
10 Feb 2004:-) Peter Lenhardt
I like the color scheme. But I think the arms look a little strange...

:-) Niki 'Jedi Wolf Sister' Patton replies: "Yes, the arms do, and so do the legs, and her face, and... Pretty much everything but her wings. *sighs* I do love those wings though."

I agree with the perspective comments on this one, but the wings make up for it. I just got finished yesterday with a full faerie and the concept of the wings; how they should look, layers, highlights; was the hardest for me to nail down. So kudos on the wing job.

18 Niki 'Jedi Wolf Sister' Patton replies: "Hee! Those wings definitly are why I keep her on my gallery."

Though her proportions are off I think it adds something in a way. Everyone draws fairies or elves with human proportions but suppose they wouldn't? Fairies moreso since they're supposed to be small, remind me of insects sometimes and maybe they'd have strange proportions like bugs. I dont' know, maybe I'm insane. The wings are wonderful by the way.
