SciFi and Fantasy Art: Storm Approaching

I did this one last winter while on break. I noticed the sky was pretty with the heavy clouds so I imitated them in the drawing.  The  ruin the dragon is perched on was drawn from a memory of when I was hiking in these woods and I found a run down building that kind of reminded me of an old castle.

Wow! Very nice. Just the shape in which I like to see dragons 2 It's made by pastels I think? You use then well, it's difficult 2

I love this. It looks so realistic and prettyful. And I like the pose, and the colors, and... well, the whole thing.

I love that dragon so cool. Now I'm sad because I can't paint like that

:-) Jannette Monteith replies: "Thanks, I actually used colored pencil and ink for this."

I really like this pic-hope you don't mind me saying, but i like it better than the one chosen by the mods2it might be because i am no good with using coloured pencils and i love the way you did it here...I also like the dragon's wings and how you succeeded into colouring the heavy sky...
Good, really good job!

Thanks, I used colored pencils on this one. Unfortunately the actual drawing is pretty large so I could only scan my prints.

The wings on your dragon are amazing! I love the green shine on the dragon. For some reason, I think this picture would look even better if you were to tone down the greens and add some pinkish lighting in those clouds. Nice work!

:-) Jannette Monteith replies: "Actually I really didnt want to use much warm tones on this because I wanted to capture the dreary dark feeling you get when a storm is approaching (hence the name). The muted, toned down colors add to that effect."

His head looks so majestic, and I love the stormy colours and the weathered look of the ruin!
