SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Protector

There is a very sad story behind these two.
She is meant to play a major role in what awaits the world. She possesses secret powers she cannot begin to guess herself. Without her, the world may be lost. But she does not know any of this. She is only a little girl, and the only thing she knows is the unexplicable sadness that seems to be a part of her heart.
She thinks he is her older brother. She is wrong.

He is meant to protect her, to keep her safe from the dark powers that desperately want to find her and take her in... throughout eternities, in every life, in every rebirth, he was there, keeping her safe. In their last life, they were lovers, for he loved her for ages already. But blinded by his love, he made a mistake, and the dark powers reached her and killed her. Reborn in this life, she has lost all memory of her talents and duties, has to regain them in a slow and painfull process, all due to the grieveous mistake he made. And no one knows if she will be strong enough to face the darkness.
He will never forgive himself.

It is very interesting, I would love to read it when it's done. This is a lovely picture, you portrayed their emotions very well. I especially like the way you shaded the guy's hair, done in photoshop? I'd love to see more artwork containing these characters
