Hi! Thanks for dropping by my gallery. Orthodox Christian Faith is very precious to me and it is not something I can truly share with that many people. In this respect, I'm glad we found each other.

As for your art. You're pretty confident with outline, which is always good. What you should work more on is shading, colour and background.

To become a good artist means to fully master the technique, without losing one's inspiration and originality of ideas.

This means very often deawing from life, to learn the proportions, how to bring out an object in 3D and mix colours well. Drawing cups, fruit, interiors or landscapes may seem boring, but it will train both your eye and hand (as well as give you ideas perhaps). It will give your drawing more freedom and the ability to express any character or sene which may want to illustrate. Things may not look perfect to start with, but don't be afraid to make mistakes - noticing them is the first step to improveent. 2

Another important thing is not to be afraid to experiment. Perhaps you should get yourself a set of watercolours and just fool around with them for a bit to see what effects you can achieve. One of the ways to paint (preferably on good paper) is to put in the main areas of colour and light and dark with a wet brush and after it dries put in the finer detail with a drier, finer brush.

Anyway - good luck, and I hope you'll soon update with some characters from the Silmarillion.

:-) Anita M. King replies: "Thank you for visiting!I've actually done a lot of experimenting with pencil shading in the last week, and I got 3 good pictures out of that so far. Two of those are going up here, but I want to have more to put up before I actually update the gallery.Backgrounds, landscapes and interiors have always been hard for me. I get very impatient with details sometimes, so they often turn out looking sloppy. I painted one landscape in watercolors for a basic design class a couple years ago, but that's about as much experience as I've had in either landscapes or watercolor. I hope to remedy that in the near future.Thank you for all of your encouragement and advice. I really appreciate it!"

You should be very happy with yourself. You've improved sooo much since I last commented in any of your galleries.

:-) Anita M. King replies: "Thank you! I've noticed that your work has improved a great deal as well. Here's to learning!"

Watercolors watercolors! Any tips for the watercolors you've used?

:-) Anita M. King replies: "Actually, I haven't done any watercolors yet. I'm getting some for Christmas, so after that I'll start working with them. However, Natalia (two comments above) is really good with watercolor, so you might want to ask her."

Yes yes, more color! In the way of 'Poise' which I really liked. 2 Nice job on line works, and like I said on another pic, you're very good at coloring skin. The only thing I'd suggest for improvement is more detail! No need to go overboard unless you want to, but some detail definitely spices up pictures.
Keep...artisting... I guess. 2

7 Anita M. King replies: "Thank you for commenting on so much of my gallery! I'll make sure to drop by yours as well. You're right about detail...that's definitely one of my weaknesses. Working on it. Thanks for the suggestion."
