SciFi and Fantasy Art: Etilenne

She's a princess in a world I've just started working on, but not rightfully so. Not through any fault of her own, though.

This took half an hour to sketch, then about two hours to do the shading. As well as getting a wacom for my birthday, I also received blending sticks and a couple new art pads, so I decided to try those out too. This is my second drawing shaded in pencil. Fixed the hair! It looks less flat now.

Waaa? No comments yet! Insanity!
I really love this one. Wow great. She's got like... This pretty green glow. Was that accidental, a mishap of the scanner? Or green paper... Or is it just me being colorblind... Anywho, she's very beautiful, you should really shade on more of your pics! You obviously have a talent for it~
The hair looks very nice on her head, but i do see that the flowing parts need a bit more detail.
she's really beautiful, nice work!

:-) Anita M. King replies: "Well, it is a new pic...but thank you! The green is party the paper, and partly the scanner. I think it's colors are set just a little bit off. I've worked a bit more on the hair, though it's not perfect, and I'll probably update it the next time I send a ticket."

I agree, the shading is really good on this. Two thumbs up, definitely. And I like her flowy hair. Beautiful.

:-) Anita M. King replies: "Thank you! *dances around happily*"

Argh, so envious, to produce work half so good ^_^

:-) Anita M. King replies: "Don't be. As they say, practice makes perfect (or at least better). Thanks!"

Very nice job on the shading! I like the way you have made the shine in her hair and the glow on her face.

:-) Anita M. King replies: "When it first went up, the hair wasn't very shiny or pretty or anything. But I worked on it some more, so this is the second version. Thank you!"

I think this is my fave picture of yours ive seen so far! She's beautiful!! The hair i love, and the shadings v.Accurate, amazing gallery you have here, keep it up!

7 Anita M. King replies: "Thanks! It's almost certainly my best shaded piece, so I'm glad that my best is good enough to be appreciated by someone. "

I think you should make her hair a bit higher off her head, especially where it meets the forehead make a definant change in height to show volume. Hair isna flat, and although it looks fully and wavy at the ends, the top looks a little pancake-esque.

This pose is overused, but I think you brought something new to it with the style of shading you used and the lovely faded effect of her body. Perhaps, and this is just my thought, make the tendrils of her hair into something, a hand, or another face looking back, or something. I dunno, just a thought 2

2 Anita M. King replies: "I see what you mean about the hair looking flat on top. When I drew it, I meant for her to have her hair behind her ear on the opposite side, but you can't really tell and my own long hair experience reminds me that hair doesn't stay behind the ear long when it's windy. Though I don't have access to the original to make changes at the moment, I'll keep your comment in mind while I work on a Faramir&Eowyn illustration that I'm planning."

i personally don't think the pose is overused because each style of an artist is different and nice to see.

Anyhow, the shading is beautiful, my favorite in your gallery. I have a thing for noses and you made a nice nose!!!!! I just like her facial structure all around.

1 Anita M. King replies: "Sorry for not replying earlier! I've been off the internet for the last several months. I'm glad you like her nose. I always have trouble with noses"

This is truly beautiful. At first I thought it might be a bit too light, but it perfectly sets a comfy mood. It has an aura of day dream or peaceful thought. I wonder what she's thinking right now. Well shaded and well done 2

7 Anita M. King replies: "Thanks! Hmm. I believe she's thinking about her plans for conquering the continent right now. Not exactly peaceful, but she always has taken a calm approach to such things."
