| Even as us humans can trip over our feet while walking, so, too, can faeries trip over their wings from time to time. Luckily this beautiful faery lives among viney plants that can tangle her so as to prevent a deadly fall! She smiles as if to say, "See? I'm all right!" Her next task of course is to untangle herself ... Another one i am super proud of!!! This was drawn from a photo of my ex-girlfriend Carolyn. (Liberties of course were taken with pigment, hair color and wings, hehe) One of her online nicknames is "TangledUpInBrown" (as brown is her favorite color), and so i made the vines fade to brown - they were originally gonna be limey green, too ...but then it wouldn't have been as much contrast to the skin at all. The flowers were only supposed to look ... different and a little exotic ... they may or may not exist in the real world, but i didn't take them specifically from anywhere. And i love how the wings turned out ... i've been trying to study different styles of butterfly/faery wings over the last while, because i feel mine have lacked in many ways. These wings were done similar to the style of this really excellent artist: Liselotte Eriksson who also draws a few chubby faeries, as well as all sorts of different kinds, shapes and sizes! Definitely check her out! So yah, my wings are similar in basic structure as what i learned from her, but flavoured with signature colors that i love to use, hehe! The hair was what i had troubles finding a color for ... Purple? Her nipples and lips and soles have purple pigment, and i often use that theme .... Brown? That would be my ex's real hair color, but i wanted something more fantastical ... Blue? But i just did a lime green faery queen with blue hair ... Even though we're not together anymore, i still really love this piece. |
