SciFi and Fantasy Art: Tonkin Firebeard

Yet another dwarf character, Tonkin here was the prince of his stronghold until it was overrun and conquered by orcs. He wasted away in a prison camp for a year and somehow managed to escape, with the intent of reclaiming his stronghold and reuniting his people. I originally drew this picture in pencil then inked it in using some technical pens. I then colored it in using color pencils.

Great drawing! His anatomy is amazing. I especially like his less than trim waistline. Counting calories is for sissies and elves! His squinted eyes and the shape of his nose give him a very realistic appearance.

Very nice, reminds me of a celtic warrior. he looks like a guy who chops off everybody's heads then asks questions.

I love this character, the semi weathered look and the peircing eastwood squint is very dynamic. these remind me of the artwork done by mike weringo, very nice touch on the bulbous nose, he must be a real drinker to get that. His attire reminds me of a character I've been doing for a year, I'm still in the process of designing his attire. I love what you do with anatomy man, awesome work.

Great pic, man. I especially love the Celtic tattoos and clothing. And who says dwarves HAVE to have big, bad weapons?

His Sword seems a wee bit small, but otherwise, he's great and so is the rest of your work! You rock! Keep it up!

Should he really be drinking on the job?

the tatts are awesome, sword is a little small (I think) Looks irish and if he is it is good to see an irishman not in a kilt.

You know, your dwarves rock! Its a new take on these fantasy creatures, for me, and I like it. I knew they were hairy and warlike (and buff) but you portray them as looking celtic/viking like, and Its cool. I like the Vikings and Celts.
