SciFi and Fantasy Art: Dungeon Library

I alwats wondered why dungeons and other such dangeorus placed have libraries in them. Is it to distract the adventurer with interesting books so that the monsters can creep up on them? 0

FIRST COMMENT!

It's beautiful... it looks different from your other paintings, did you use watercolour for this one? Well, nevertheless it still looks great. I love her dress, and with the sword, reminds me of arwen (even though arwen technically did not have a sword... must be the hair). I like the shading and the way her dress transcends from blue to green 2

Thanks, I just felt like trying something different - it's watercolour and black ink.

I have never been in a dungeon library. Have you?

:-) Natalia Nikitin replies: "Not personally, but it's a kind of thing you tend to find in computer games and fantasy role-play settings where secret magic tomes are stashed away guarded by golems and such. "

We have so many books in our house we could do with a dungeon to put them in! It's aver well lit dungeon, I hope it isn't too damp or the books owuld go all soggy!

:-) Natalia Nikitin replies: "Well, I presume if they built a library in it, it is unlikely to have been damp. Perhaps it is underneath some huge frotress, is huge and connected to L-Space. "

Don't tell me you, too, have played Wild Arms, where you're the little girl and some of the monsters are floating books that you can somehow kill by wacking them with a staff...

Oh, very nice picture, also. 2I've played a great deal of things at one time, but I may not remember their names. X) Thank you!

LOL She’s just like me! 1 If I were on a quest and came upon a dungeon full of books, I’d problely be so curious to what they’re about, I’d just start reading. LOL And then along would come the creepy shadow monster-thingy and I’d have to fight it, and never get to finish my book! 1
