| 13 Dec 2003 | Cat | This rocks, even if you missed Huan. Really captures emotion beautifully. <3s. Natalia Nikitin replies: "Thank you!" | |
| 13 Dec 2003 | JJPesquall | I've read Lord of the Rings 3 times and I'm 200 pages away from the end of my 4th. Read some of Sillmarillion. (Spelling, ignore please!) You are the only artist I've seen that I've seen that can trully *need word* Tolkien's books. *Drools* Happy dance! Thanks, glad you like it! | |
| 14 Feb 2004 | Liz | Wow. I am speechless. First off, I love the emotion in this pic. When I saw it, I wanted to cry; just the pain that Luthien feels right now is so powerful.
Second, I like the colors that you used: bright, but not over powering. I really like the blue of Luthien's dress; it stands out and looks great.
And third, I just love the overall picture: Luthien mourning her love and the Elves aren't really doing anything to help her and I like how her face is hidden, it gives more to the sad quality.
This is a beautiful pictiure and I hope to see more!~
Liz
Thank you! Yes, the other elves, I tried to make the still and 'emotionless', perhaps standing back in awe, knowing that they cannot fathom the grief they are witnessing.
| 9 Mar 2004 | J. ´Jamberry´ Meyers | Oh! This is something rare and beautiful indeed. The first thing that comes to my mind is the big beautiful stained glass windows of the old churches. And this picture holds such a strong and powerful place in the Tolkien lore, that I think it really deserves this kind of reverence. It's a difficult style to pull off, and you've done it just perfectly. Kudos on an absolutely beautiful picture!
~ Jams Eh, it could be better in so many ways, but I guess I have succeeded in capturing some of the feeling of the scene described! *kicks herself again on account of Huan* Thank you for commenting!
| 2 Apr 2004 | Elizabeth Watson | Very touching! sooooo sad! You realy colored ot good...now tell me...i neveru nderstood this, when frodo goes into the west....does that meen he's dying (like this drawing) or am i just confused? Any too much blabber. Great painting!Well, he actually physically sails to the West, but I do not believe that this makes him immortal, just gives him the healing, life and joy he would have never had in Middle-Earth. | |
| 17 Jun 2005 | Stav Ofer aka 'Silmarien' | this is so sad... you really captured Lúthien’s sorrow and pain. I want to put this pic in a tour I'm making about Beren and Luthien, if you don't want it to be in the tour or if you have any questions please contact me. Natalia Nikitin replies: "I normally have no problem with people putting my stuff in tours. Thank you very much indeed." | |
| 9 Nov 2005 | C. L. Corbin | Gorgeous! I love the style of the picture. Why hasn't this gotten Mod's Choice? Natalia Nikitin replies: "Probably because it was uploaded before there were Modpicks. I really doesn't matter so much, as people like yourself still see it and leave nice somments under it. Thank you!" | |
| 12 Nov 2005 | the swedish girl | This is so touching, i just wanted to cry when i saw it...Really beautiful! Natalia Nikitin replies: "Thank you. I'm glad I managed to get somewhere with this picture, imperfect as it is. " | |
| 14 Mar 2008 | Natalie Adams | oh, this is lovely...it’s such a sad moment in the book...but it’s so long since i read it...is beren dead, i can’t remember?! Natalia Nikitin replies: "Yes, he’s very much dead and Luthien will follow him shortly out of grief... although that will not be quite the end of the story." | |
| 29 Jul 2008 | Annamaria | I can almost hear her crying and here her saying ’Wait for me, my love. I’ll be with you soon.’ And it really does remind me of an old stainglass window in a medieval church. Natalia Nikitin replies: "Thanks. A lot of people mention stained glass for some reason. X)" | |
