SciFi and Fantasy Art: Elven girl

I took a picture of a friend of mine, and decided she would make a beautiful elven maiden. So I printed out the picture, traced and edited through the paper, and scanned it.

This is wonderfull. Sadly though, I can't ever get anyone to pose for me, which is why some of my pictures don't look very real.

Can't get anyone to pose? Heh, neither can I. She looked at me and I snapped the picture before she had a chance to look away. She's told me that she doesn't like the photo that I used for this, actually.

Wow, nice... I think that it's your best... Oh wait, would that be because of that fact that its been traced? Yeah, that's what it is... Try drawing like that... Here's a better suggestion, (not that the first suggestion is going to help in the first place), stick to your so called "philosophy major"

First of all, it's called "photo-realism," and it is considered to be a form of artistic drawing. We did this sort of thing in my drawing classes, through that was with an opaque projector, which is actually easier to use than looking through normal paper (as opposed to tracing paper) without the use of a tracing table. Besides, all I traced was the rough outline, as well as the outline of her eyes and nose. The rest was done freehand. Second, I do draw like that occasionally. Unfortunately, due to the fact that those are figure studies or sketches I do around campus, they don't fit in with the theme of Lothlorian. Third, I don't intend to draw for a living, hence the philosophy major instead of an art major. Lastly, I don't know why I'm bothering to respond to someone who was probably high when making their comment.

I'm bias, Noble's my grandson.

I have Noble's first art work framed. It was made like finger painting only this time he used chocolate pudding.

I can only be truthfull, and the truth is that she really does make for a good elven. The way her face comes together and the ears just round it all out. I like the almost halo effect you have around her. I was just sort of woundering after you were all done what she thought about it. Not that she will be dressing up as an elf any time soon, but I just thought I would ask.

Chocolate pudding?! That's cool! *lol* Sorry I just was two comments above when clicking here.
I love this pic. Do more and trace, but after some time stop tracing. Tracing is nice and easy, and it makes you learn how the lines form a face or whatever, but drawing free-hand is much more effective. I'm sure you can do really good when you don't give up too soon. BTW, tracing is very effective if you want to learn how to draw the same character again and again, eg. for a comic.
Greetingz and good job. Keep on drawing!

She is pretty... but perhaps you could have worked on it a little longer, shade it or make it darker. But what do I know, simple is sometimes better. This is good though.

this is the best youthful elf female I've seen keep up with this style;the light shading and thin lines accentuate the elven personae!! This is truly a gorgeous picture!! I've been gaming since the mid 70's seen lots of art since then but this is great, keep up the good work!!
