SciFi and Fantasy Art: Mitsukari Komoe: Hai-iro no Oni (The Grey Demon)

Komoe is an orphan. Her mother, Midoe, died when she was three, falling into illness during her escape from the wrath of her illegitimate mate, the leader of the Mitsukari Clan. Komoe survived as a street urchin in the village where her mother was buried until she was 10, when a troop of wolves marched through the village and sacked it, killing many for sport. Komoe, enraged by this, threw a rock at the leader's head and knocked him off his horse. The leader, the heir to the Mitsukari lands and unknowingly Komoe's half-brother, was impressed by the little she-wolf's aim and decided to take her with him. To make a long story short, they fall in love with each other, he decides to overthrow his father, there is a huge war, her father kills him and chops off her ear, she scars and wounds him seriously and escapes with her half-brother's body. After cremating him, she takes his skull and turns it into a mask, becoming the Hai-iro no Oni, fully bent on revenge. Komoe, despite her all-consuming bloody thirst for vengeance, is beautiful, sad, lonely, and afraid. Terrified. She's not scared of death; she's scared of dying without justice. She is an expert swordfighter--her blades of choice the no-dachi and wakizashi--and is deadly accurate with the kusari-gama, a chain with a kama sickle on one side and a heavy weight on the other. Note: Yes, I know 'oni' translates directly as a tall, ugly, ogre-like monster, but they ARE considered demons, and she's just as bloodthirsty and evil as they. It fits.

:wanders over: :fwaps you with a Noh fan: Don't you dare let that story gone un-illustrated! The story is fascinating in that SHORT form. It would be unstoppable in "long" form. Please? :big puppy eyes: Illustrate it?... On this pic, I really like how her fur looks wet, but still like fur... wet fur is hard to do! (says the guy who's tried to draw it and failed) Very very good, Em! (First comment dance!)

Just so ya know "oni"=ogre or goblin

:-) Emily Marie Oberdorfer replies: "It also can be translated as "demon." And with the fact that she wears a wolf's skull that makes her look demonic and ogrish, it works out."

This is a great picture, I like the bold fine-line style you have here. Very great attention to detail 2
I notice you said she is a wolf; intitially I though she was a deer-like creature because of the rather elongated face, though.
