SciFi and Fantasy Art: Pirate

Well...it's SUPPOSED to be like...a girl pirate...but...I should have added something more piratey to the picture.. Oh well. This picture ended up SO different than from what I had first pictured in my head...actually this wasn't going to be anything even NEAR pirate-y when I started....quite interesting how that sometimes works out. Unfortunately...I can't draw...water...at all. So yeah...it looks kind of lame...but...oh well. I did enjoy coloring the girl though...so um...enjoy the picture...just ignore the icky water, savvy?

The colouring work on this is gorgeous! How on earth do you do it so well? What programme do you use? How? Why? Where? What?
I love this pic, and I think the water is fine. THe only criticism is that the stairwell looks a bit...odd. I can't offer any advice that'd sort that out, because I'm awful at background objects.
Other than that - she's got a pretty face, the colouring job is brilliant - this rocks! Keep it up ^_^

:-) Ashlee M. Liedtke replies: "O.O Thank you for such wonderful comments! Um..how do I do the colouring so well? I personally hate how I colour...so I can't really answer that one. ^_~ Um...I use Adobe Photoshop 7.0 to colour... Yeah the stairs...sucks...I can't do backgrounds to save my life... Thanks though for the comment. I appreciate it. ^_^"

Oh, my good lord above! Of all talents I have seen, and I have seen a lot! Okay, here's a trick you might want to try. Do you have stairs on a front porch or something? If so, sit down in your yard where you can see the stairs at that desired angle. (Like where the girl would stand. Make sure to stand far enough away to where the girl's height is proportional with the stairs.) Now... draw the stairs (angles, lines, etc.) the way you see them. That's how I mastered many of my techniques. You are so talented. Never stop!
