SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Forest Of The Hunter

An illustration from C.S.Friedman's 'Coldfire Trilogy.' The Forest is the home of the undead Gerald Tarrant, Neocount of Merentha, who sold his soul for immortality. In the permanent darkness of the Forest, the Dark Fae rise and form. To be lost there is the ultimate horror.

Awesome! I agree with everyone, the dress is awsome. I love the way you decided to portray the Fae. It's great to see some excellent artwork spawned from those amazing books. They certainly are amazing books. In fact I want to re-read them and do a series of illustrations inspired by them.

someone trying not to hear her cry...Good observation - I see exactly what you mean. 2

oh my... she really does look desperate...!!! you’ve put great body language in there...!!! and the many sparkles and eyes looking at her - it makes me immediately feel it’s a bit chilly, quite noisy from the animals and howls and stuff, with cracks every now and then... driving you insane... you’ve done a great job in here2! very very good2!!!

:-) Norma Peters replies: "Thanks, that’s exactly the sort of look and atmosphere I was trying to portray. 2"

all the sparkles remind me of willow-the-wisps or are they fairies or are there just brilliant sparkly things hehe well done how long hav you been douing art?

:-) Norma Peters replies: "Generally, the sparkles are a form of magic called "the fae." I’ve been drawing and painting for a long, long time. I have a 25 year old daughter, so I’m no teenager. 2"
