SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Dreadful Hollow

From Tennyson's poem, 'Maude: Part I':

I hate the dreadful hollow behind the little wood;
Its lips in the field above are dabbled with blood-red heath,
The red-ribb'd ledges drip with a silent horror of blood,
An Echo there, whatever is ask'd her, answers 'Death.'

The scene of a long-ago tragedy, still haunted by an unpleasant atmosphere of horror and despair. Who is she? Why does she come here? She is being watched. Can you see the almost-hidden eyes?

Has anyone noticed the face at the bottom of the picture? I was reading the comments and scrolling down till all that was showing was the bottom of her dress and her feet and the ground. Does anyone see what I see or I'am I imagining it?That particular face was entirely accidental. I didn't notice it until I had finished the picture. 2

I think I have found the eye just under the tree in the upper right hand corner??? the picture is very haunting, the red sheos and nails entranced me, the entire picture reminds me of a song by evanesence called Haunted, the line "watching me wanting me" to be specific.well again the picture is beautiful.Thanks so much for your lovely comment. 2

In the Tenyson poem, it’s a man who hates the spot because it’s where his father committed suicide

:-) Norma Peters replies: "Yes, exactly. At least the narrator is suspicious that it was suicide."
