A familiar figure of Hebrew folklore...Lilith, purportedly Adam's first wife, banished because she was not willing to be a submissive female. Often portrayed as a vampire, demon, succubus, angel, and even a goddess. That's right, she has no navel. Think about it.
Interesting, that she was punished for what many woman are in modern times. It seems odd for a book to say all people are equal and then that one should be punished for wanting equality... but hey- atheist. The bible is too multi-layered/contradictry to ever make complete sense to me. Beautiful picture, and I get the no navel thing- it's been explained so many times already that I'm not going to repeat it. It makesme admire this picture that mucuh more for little details such as that.Thank you very much.

Shes very beautiful and i think its right she doesnt have a navel.Thank you.
Actually when they were first together Adam had it all and lilith i'm guessing had jack all. She wasn't happy and refused to be satisfied, demanding 50/50 which God granted, but then she refused to be satisfied with that and demanded absolutely everything and either she left or god drove her out. Then waited a while and requested her return (i'm guessing a heart-felt return) she went there defiantly and had her own demon-children, which were then killed 100 per day (how many can one woman have? 0.o) and God was fine with her having 50/50. He wasn't fine with her taking it all from Adam... although he had it all to begin with... i know seems dodgy. The thing skipped over is that God was WILLING to split things 50/50 between the two. But yeah typical coz its the bible it must be anti-woman *rolls eyes*. I think MEN were (and many worldwide still are) anti-woman!
A lot of the anti-woman material in there is either misinterpreted (it is believed to be an old religious technique PURPOSELY used to control women or drive them out of the church!). Its so wrong to take one part of the bible without all the other parts to do with it I mean, the REAL job of a priest really starts to come into focus when ya look at it like that. Another possibility is its actually displaying a truth in human treatment of women, i don't quite understand it but you gotta take it in context. I'm still suspicious and examining it myself though, asking around and all that. Even where it says about women in leadership and to submit to men, it says for men to never dominate women and it doesn't say women CAN'T be in leadership full stop, you never hear no1 talking about that do ya? No. I mean all the lip pharisee's gave ppl, bible doesn't soften up on it, Jesus did the opposite and often went off at the pharisee's. Still, he's the one seen as the rigid heartless type... PPL are heartless (sometimes).
BACK TO THE TOPIC! I love that image of her though, it brings her to life withotu needing every last cell detailed on her. Beautiful, thankee 4 the lovely picture.I'm glad you like it - thank you.
for the gothik world..... i love this is my life my be every thing to me!!!!! but just we know who will we are. nobody can say: -i"m gothik nobody just the truth gothiks just like me can say that.... SO PLEASE DONT SAY THAT BECAUSE YOU DONT KNOW WHAT THAT ISWith all due respect, this is an online gallery, not a discussion about "gothik." I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.
Perhaps the most interesting part of the Lilith story is that the Heavenly Father took her to be His own consort, after a time. He must have admired her spirit
For all we know, that could be exactly what she looked like! Beautiful artwork here. Thanks so much for sharing!I'm so glad that you like her. Thank you for your kindness.
Wow. I can't believe I missed this one! EEK! I always look through your art b/c you've become my favorite and I didn't catch this one! It's beautiful!!! Now, I don't know the story of Lilith, to be honest I have never heard of her so I dunno anything about her or the naval stuff. Can you explain by any chance? Thanks! I can't wait to see more!!! I'm happy that you like her, Ember. This is the story about her navel: She was never born but was created by god, therefore a navel would never have been necessary to attach her to her mother before birth.
according to C.S.Lewis' books... Jadis the white witch was the descendant of lilith...Thank you, and for the information, as well. I was not aware of this.
Here for my morning look at a couple of your paintings. Looked ay Lady Ari and Lilith. Looking at their faces they could be sisters or Lady Ari a Lilith re-born. Interesting how Christians skip over Lilith {> Beautiful as always. Skip Norma Peters replies: "Thank you. Yes, Lilith is conveniently ignored by organized religion. The whole idea of Lilith is too much for them to wrap their minds around."
