| 27 Mar 2006 | Iris E.C. Tandefelt | Wow I love vampires. This is wonderful. Especially I love her fangs. It´s not very easy to make them look real, but you´ve done it perfectly. Even though I think her corset should be a bit tighter...Thank you very much. Hehe, by nature corsets should be very tight, shouldn't they? | |

| 12 Feb 2007 | krista geden <kristalynngeden@ | Dear Norma Peters...I came across your site and now it's been about two hours since then-your work is glorious and I too love the Lord of the Rings...it's now my all fav. movie...Have you ever read Clive Bakers 'Weave World'-truly a wonderful fairy tale...the characters are all interesting...I couldn't put it down and I had a sense of sadness when I got through it for I didn't want it to end...I have left my addy here with you-I too love to draw and paint, etc...would you - if you find a bit of free time (lol !) drop me a line and let me know about the tools you use for drawing-the pc tablet I'm interested in but don't know anything about-I'm upgrading all my computer stuff soon so it be nice to buy something for drawing...oh my , I've started a book here...thank you Ms. Peters...Krista xxx Ps-I see crows in your work, I had a crow living with me for 6 months and it was great-so awesome these birds though it did like to play 'hide an seek' with my house keys...First of all I would like to apologize for the lateness of this reply. I've been extremely busy, and I don't get much of a chance to tend my Elfwood galleries. Thank you for your kind words. They are truly appreciated, and I'm delighted that you've enjoyed my gallery. I have never read anything by Clive Barker, although I intend to as soon as possible, so I will keep that book in mind. The Intuos 2 is a great graphics tablet. It comes in several sizes, and I find the 6X8 perfect for me - not so large as to be heavy and unwieldy, but large enough to play around with. It plugs into a USB port on the computer, and there is a disc that intstalls the drivers so that the machine will recognize the tablet. You draw on the screen with a stylus, and the screen is touch-sensitive. In conjunction with this, I use a graphics program called Corel Painter. I started out years ago with the basic program, Painter Classic, and I have kept the program upgraded to the most recent version, Painter 10 at the moment. If you go to corel.com, you can learn a lot more about it. You are so fortunate to have had a crow. I adore both crows and ravens. We have a crow family living across the field by our house, and we'e been observing their daily life and habits for over three years. They're fascinating creatures. | |
| 24 Jan 2008 | Stephanie S. K. Marbach | hehe, her pony makes her look a bit old house stylish but it suits her dress and jewels and surroundings... like from an old movie... ! Norma Peters replies: "Yes, that’s the sort of "look" I wanted. If I remember correctly, the person who requested this character gave me a description of the sort of dress she would like." | |
| 28 Apr 2008 | Alisha Janel Toth | Love the blend of colour! Nice detail! Beautiful vampire! I have a lot of questions. When and where does this picture take place? What about the detail, how did you get it so perfect? If you could do this picture all over again, what would you change about it? Would you change anything at all? And the lighting of the figure, how did you get that so perfect? If you could fill in one final detail, what would it be? Norma Peters replies: "Thanks for your lovely comment. Regarding your first question, I don’t really have any background on the story behind this picture, as it was a request from someone many years ago who wanted a picture of her RP character. She gave me a description of how the character and her clothing should look, and what the setting should be.
The detail is just something I do, there’s no secret. I simply keep working on it till I get what I want.
There are several thing that I’d change. One would be her visible hand; the fingers are too thick. I’m not entirely satisfied with those vines climbing up the columns. I’d do a bit more work on them to make them look less flat.
I’d also be a bit more careful with the detailing on her shawl.
As for the lighting, that was hit and miss. I’m often careless about lighting, so if it turned out looking decent, it was mainly luck.
One final detail...I think that I’d have her other hand showing, as well." | |
