| 2 Nov 2006 | Jazzmyn jazzmyn_aires@yah...com< | This is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I haven't ever seen anything like it. I was looking on google for pagan woman pictures so I can make a dropping by to say hi graphic for myspace(I will not use this though) and I came across this. It has taken me awhile to be able to even comment because I had no idea what to say to give this awesome piece of art any justice. I am a big woman and always get upset at people thinking others are overweight because they are slobs, overeat and don't care about themselves...Thank you for giving us a voice in your work...And thank YOU so much for your lovely and thoughtful comment. | |
| 15 Dec 2006 | Amber | I just wanted to say "thank you" for making this picture. I am a high priestess and I am a full sized woman...so to see this priestess displayed like this...it warmed my heart!I'm glad you like her, Amber. | |
| 3 Jul 2007 | Sandrac | I'm a very (naturally) skinny girl and I wish I looked like this. Why do so many people wish to be supermodel thin? Well, I am supermodel thin, and it's not great! All the bones sticking out - it's not graceful like this woman is. Anyway this woman is absolutely gorgeous! I wish I could give her a big hug!!I'm glad you like her - thank you. | |
| 14 Aug 2007 | Jess | I agree, beauty does come in all shapes and sizes. I don't really know how this thing started in the first place about weight mattering so much, as long as you're healthy it shouldn't really matter. I have great beautiful friends, one of them is slightly bigger than the rest of us, and my other friend is kind of trying to loose the weight that isn't even there. And I have another friend who weighs about 65 pounds and she isn't bulimic or anything. She eats more junk food than I do, and she still stays the same. I love them all the same. And I have heard people making fun and it frustrates me so much to the point where I'm crying because of their ignorance and, and....but yea. Life makes you wonder. Like really wonder, who was the first person that came up with the idea of weight mattering so much and why? Anyways, I love this picture. And I love the point you're trying to get through to people by using your talent.I agree with you. In the great scheme of things, what does it matter what a person weighs as long as they are healthy? Throughout history, there have been various ideals of beauty, but in the present the entire cult of extreme thinness, fueled by the media, has become a dangerous entity. | |
| 29 Nov 2007 | Vanessa | Wow. I love this picture. I love the shadiong, the boldness of the colors, everything!!!! This is how we are sussposed to look, by goddess herself! Not skinny skin and bones! REAL women!!! Not like a superficial model! I once had this boyfriend (from Afghanistan - where they like more natural women). Well, he said my friends looked weak because they were too skinny. But, he liked my weight much better. Because look at how some of the middle eastern countries admire the womens shape. More curvy. Many thanks. There is beauty to be found in all body types. | |
| 24 Jan 2008 | Stephanie S. K. Marbach | wooow, this lady sure IS beautiful... she’s got that proud posture and charma most of these ladies do have, and that makes her soooo... special and pretty... great, how you’ve captured that !!! Norma Peters replies: "Thanks! At the time I did this picture I had a message board, and a couple of the ladies who posted there were rather large. This picture was in honour of them. " | |
| 27 Feb 2008 | Amanda Vinette Flinck | Thank you for posting a beautiful non-skeleton woman! Norma Peters replies: "Many thanks to you for your comment. I’m glad you like her. " | |
| 10 Jun 2008 | Anon | I actually like thin people better, but this is a nice picture. I also have to critizise some of the comments here, because there actually are natural thin girls out there. I think it is better to accept everyone, instead of saying things such as " this is how we are supposed to look", or "Beautiful natural woman".. I am skinny, and im glad I am! I would rather fit in size 4 than having problems finding clothes.
Anyway, beautiful picture, and I have no negative critique what so ever to it, but to some comments here. Norma Peters replies: "Thank you. My daughter is also naturally thin. She eats well and enjoys her food, but she must have a fast metabolism." | |
| 19 Sep 2008 | Anon. | I really like this painting. It is unusual to see a modern painting of a larger woman as generally modern day images are of women who are slim not overtly curvacious as this one is. Having said that the woman is pretty but not necessarily beautiful. She looks engaging and and thoughful. Her eyes look like she is thinking of past secrets or lovers. The whole image is quite sexual. The fitting of the dress hugs the body closely around the bust and hips giving the viewer an idea of what lies beneath. The stance of the woman looks like she is giving somebody ’the come on’. Set against these comments I feel she is painted wearing a bit to much gold jewellery and coupled with the gold shoes makes the womans image look a little cheap. All in all a though good painting thats pleasing to the eye with excellent use of colour. | |
| 21 Sep 2008 | Anon. | this is a wonderful picture, and it is great to hear some people out there agreeing with the idea that people should have respect for themselves no matter the weight. After reading the mists of avalon i pictured pagan reistessed unnadorened, in white gowns with generally dark hair and good natured faces- but you have acheived a beautiful portrayel without any of these "requirements".
