Blade is face up when in it's scabbard. Some swordsmen use to turn the sheathe sideways before drawing the blade to get a horizontal slash.

^_^x I love that certain crossed scarred samurai who grew up with the name Shint but then it was changed to a certain somthing else by a big mean drunk guy who was his master. Then some bad stuff happened that some good, than some bad stuff happened and then some good and bad and so on....Bye bye den!
