| 9 Jul 2002 | Laura Aurora <arabianbeaut | Truely beautiful. I like the way the background is kind of faded. It makes the character stick out very nicely. I love the dress. She's absolutely gorgeous | |
| 16 Jan 2003 | Sandra Leigh Wagner | She is beautiful. I adore that dress, it makes her seem more real than the background. I've noticed that certain details in your pics have different textures, almost like you used a different medium, though your faces all have teh same surreal quality. Your backgrounds remind me of Brian Froud, and I love them. Only wish my backgrounds came out half this good. Incidentally, what IS your medium? Paula Alavesa replies: "I use mainly watercolours and ink, like I did on this one too. The surface can change so much with the amount of water you use and how refined details you´re able to make. I´ve always had the need to make pictures that keep you eyes buzy hence the changes in the textures and I have a bad habit of using different degrees of acuracy also to bring out or fade parts of the images on how noticeable I want them to be, not necessarelly on how far in the perspective they are.And I think messy is beautiful." | |
| 16 Jan 2003 | Kira Mundhenk | Again, I love your style...Hrm, I thought Arwen when I first saw it because they juiced up her part-she really isn't supposed to be a warrior. Anyway, the hair is a lovely little detail, I'm glad you take the time to do details | |
| 31 Jan 2003 | Erin | I LOVE that tree! I absolutely adore that tree! How in God's name did you do it? Oh yeah - she's good too. Tree's better. | |

| 1 Feb 2003 | Liz Riza | LOVE the tree in the fore-est foreground. I think she stands out a bit too much, not enough shadows on her...and you'd think there would be, from all the trees. Actually, shadows on most of your work would make it really great. What's that little figure down in the bottom, by her right foot? --Liz Visit my gallery? Paula Alavesa replies: "The finished version at my home page might explain the lack of shadows and sharp background in this painting: http://www.student.oulu.fi/~paalaves/haltianeito.jpg" | |
