SciFi and Fantasy Art: That Which Is Sacred

I recently took a trip to Europe. This painting was inspired by all the cathedrals that I visited -- the architecture with arches and pillars and a whole lot of light. A friend of mine said when he saw this, 'You -really- are obsessed with painting ugly twisty trees!' (White crooked trees appear in a lot of my paintings.) I -am- fascinated by the grace that a branch can have. The girl sitting at the base of the tree has a slight resemblance to me, although I suppose it's hard to tell when it's so small.
