SciFi and Fantasy Art: Legolas aims for the Fell Beast

'Legolas laid down his paddle and took up the bow that he had brought from Lórien. Then he sprang ashore and climbed a few paces up the bank. Stringing the bow and fitting an arrow he turned, peering back over the River into the darkness. Across the water there were shrill cries, but nothing could be seen.
Frodo looked up at the Elf standing tall above him, as he gazed into the night, seeking a mark to shoot at. His head was dark, crowned with sharp white stars that glittered in the black pools of the sky behind.'

JRR Tolkien: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring: Book II, Chapter 9: The Great River

I love how your portrayed him with hair other than palepalepale blond....Only thing I would have changed was to make him just a little more delicate. I pictured him as a very lithe elf, but you drew him a little more built. BUT that's just my opinion! The picture is fantastic, he looks so mysterious and beautiful.I don't think it was intentional of me to portray him as well-built. Perhaps the bagginess of his clothes adds to his bulk, I'm not sure. Nevertheless, I'm really glad you like my Legolas!

Thank you, Peter, for drawing Legolas with darker hair. My comments on Elfwood's fanart are solely to bring this to happen. When I read the books, I pictured somewhat long black hair and a somewhat muscular body. Not built like Aragorn's but not built like a woman's. You did a wonderful job with this picture. The detail is beautiful and breathtaking!Ah, thanks. I'm glad you agree somewhat with my portrayal. The way you describe him seems pretty accurate to me.

This is very beautiful, it's very nice to see somebody draw Legolas in her/his own way, not only blonde orlando bloom-looking elves. Great work2I'm not sure, but I hope that craze has since died down a bit...! 12

This is such a good picture!!!!!!! its good to see a dark haired legolas because i imagined him with dark hair when i read the books. this is almost exactly how i imagined him. i LOVE this picture!!!It's strange how many people have said that this is how they pictured him. But the debate will rage ever on.
