SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Ringbearer's Burden

This is so sad!!! Frodo and sam went though so much pain and suffering for so many people and things. And to me it seems that all they got was a big yeh. They deserve much more.Poor frodo didn't get near as much attention as sam,merry and pippen. But this is a great portray of what they went though!Thanks a lot. I agree with you that Frodo got the least attention within the Shire, but I believe that this was what he wanted anyway. And in terms of the bigger picture, I think he and Sam were greatly praised and revered above all others. Don't forget the Field of Cormallen, or the fact that Elrond himself said that Frodo would have a seat among the great Elf-friends. Afterall, both Frodo and Sam did sail into the West -- the Blessed Realm. There is little more honour for any mortal individual.

This is my favorite part of the book. The relationship between Sam and Frodo is so beautiful, and this picture is a wonderful visualization of it. While I'll agree with the bit about the hands and face, it is nothing that takes away from the overall feeling of the image. Nice work.Thanks very much. I agree about these things as well, but for some reason, I also think it aids the look of Frodo's emotional and physical mutilation. I really feel that this particular Chapter and scene is the one in which his imposed loss of dignity and integrity comes to the fore. It's heartbreaking.

Your work is so interesting to me. Other people have remarked how your paintings look medieval -- the technique, color, style make the characters and landscapes seem remote and dreamlike but at the same time viewers feel an emotional response to them. Your vision and expression of Tolkien's writing, what a great combination. Bah, my words don't convey my thoughts.Again, thank you very much. I don't strictly view Tolkien's creations to be 'Medieval', more related to perhaps the Norman, Anglo-Saxon or Viking-age. But this comparison doesn't bother me at all, and I still find it relatively appropriate. Your words are like music to my ears, believe me. Thanks again.

Frodo looks so tired... He looks like he´s giving up.

I love the background and the stones... To me, the fact that they are pointing to the right gives an impression of movement, as if the mountain was showing the way.
