SciFi and Fantasy Art: Saeros' Death'Túrin looked down on his body lying in the stream, and he thought: 'Unhappy fool! From here I would have let him walk back to Menegroth. Now he has laid a guilt upon me undeserved.' And he turned and looked darkly upon Mablung and his companions, who now came up and stood near him on the brink. Then after a silence Mablung said: 'Alas! But come back with us, Túrin, for the King must judge these deeds.' JRR Tolkien: Unfinished Tales: NARN I HÎN HÚRIN The Tale of the Children of Húrin

I'm am just adoring everything in your gallery btw! this pic is just oh my I LOVE IT!!!! Yes, indeed! The Unfinished Tales is a great book especially for Tolkien enthusiasts. Thanks again for the neverending praise!
| 2 Dec 2002 | Glaelia | Would you believe that I just finished reading that part of Unfinished Tales today? That's exactly how I pictured that part to be like, too. Poor Turin, nothing ever goes right for him Yes, Túrin is an unfortunate and pitiable character, and I feel a lot for him throughout his hardships. Thanks a lot for the comment -- I hope you enjoy the rest of your read. | |
| 2 Jan 2003 | Lorien M Earth | Love that book too thats such a sad story i wrote a poem about his dad stuck in a chair for like 50 years not fun anyway love the pict!Indeed, not fun, though I hope that when you actualy wrote about it, it was. Thanks a lot. | |
| 4 Jan 2003 | Ekobean | Ooooooo. Okay, thanks for telling me. I didn't know the other books tolkien wrote. I knew he had but just not what they were. By the way, who's the guy who looks like Aragorn...Turin? Arathorn? My Aragorn, or the movie Aragorn? Anyway, it's Túrin in his slightly younger years. | |
| 31 Jan 2003 | Lorien M Earth | Ello im back and well writing it was fun but i dont think sitting in a chair would be to bad i didnt turn out that great to little time and im no good at poetry anyway but i like his expression "no its not what u think!"Glad you like it. | |
| 24 Mar 2003 | Ekobean | I like the general feeling of theis pic. I have the Silmarillion and it briefly discribes Saeros' death. He fell and hit his head on a rock because Turin was chasing him because he was flirting with his girl right? It was something like that. But still i like the look on Turin's face of remorse and yet not remorse. I think it is perfect. Absolutely perfect in every way, shape, and form.Well, not because he was 'flirting with his girl', but more because Saeros insulted him, his people, his race and especially his mother, Morwen (whom Túrin loved and missed most of all). Not only that, but Saeros drew his sword first. I'm really glad you like this piece, Ekobean. | |
| 16 Sep 2003 | A guy from sweden | I remember this scene too! Saeros was a fool, but I laughed when I first read how he was hunted by Turin. He was hunted bare naked, with a sword behind his "bottom" to his doom.......What an awful way to go though....
Great pic!;>I agree! But I loved the irony and play on the theme that Tolkien creates here. Don't forget that Túrin was most hurt by Saeros' slur on his mother when he spat: 'If the Men of Hithlum are so wild and fell, of what sort are the women of that land? Do they run like deer clad only in their hair?'. And yet in years to come, this is exactly what happens to Nienor, Túrin's own sister.

| 1 Jan 2004 | Daniel Hicks | Great!Thanks! | |
| 29 May 2004 | Hannah | I am only twelve and may not be able to understand the full emotion of the books, but i think U capture it. I have read the Simarillion, LOTR, The Hobbit, Book of lost Tales, and Book of unfinished tales. Have U read the Smith of Wooton Major. Has nothing to do with Middle Earth though...well it kind of does. THe star and all...I don't think age has anything to do with 'understanding' the books. All that matters is what the words mean to you, and how you perceive them. As such, I'm very flattered by your wonderful comment, thank you very much. Of course I own a copy of that book . | |
