SciFi and Fantasy Art: Searching Fangorn Forest

'It was not long before Aragorn found fresh signs. At one point, near the bank of the Entwash he came upon footprints: hobbit-prints, but too light for much to be made of them. Then again, beneath the bole of a great tree on the very edge of the wood more prints were discovered. The earth was bare and dry, and did not reveal much.'

JRR Tolkien: The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers: Book III, Chapter 5: The White Rider

I really love all of your work, youre amazing, and you have the most uncanny ability to make everything look exactly as most people picture it from tolkeins books. Your detailed backgrounds are the best about all of your pictures, in my opionion. Would it be possible for me to add a link to your gallery in my elfwood bio?Jessica, not only would I like for you to link to me, but I'm honoured that you should wish to do so. Thank you, once again, for such a complimentary and well-written comment. Rest assured, I appreciate them all greatly.

that's exactly how i imagined Fangorn looking. they did it too dark in the movie. the stream is beautiful, all the characters are well proportioned, and the trees look really great. beautiful work, as usual ^^Thanks a lot.

Yes, very nice trees. Arent trees in general the nicest thing? Sure they look good with leaves, but for the really gnarly trees they just get in the way. Leaves can kind of be thought of as clothing for them, so as they say here in america(puke) in terms of clothing, less is more. Most of your art it seems like they take place in autumn, just because of the brown tones plus gnarly trees. I like autumn, so its not a bad thing to me.Actually, Tolkien describes in detail most of the vegetation in Middle-earth, and more importantly, the exact dates of each event, so it's quite easy to get a feel for what you are drawing, if you pay close attention. From the time Frodo leaves Bag End to the fall of Sauron, the events only take place in a time frame of about six months -- from September to March of the next year. So, most of the story does indeed take place from Autumn to Winter and early Spring.

I do like how you made the trees look so real, and your Legolas is way cooler than the one in the films (although I think Orli did a good job and he is cute!!) Sorry, the fangirl in me has to come out once in a while. *slaps self once again* Save it for the Fanquarter, Robin! Oi, keep up the great work!! Try to control the fangirl in you, for I feel that they are fast becoming the bane of my life! But thank you for yet another wonderful comment!
