SciFi and Fantasy Art: Túrin & Beleg

'Thence the road went on into the Guarded Plain; but the Orcs did not go far upon it, as yet, for there dwelt now in the wild a terror that was hidden, and upon the red hill were watchful eyes of which they had not been warned. For Túrin put on again the Helm of Hador; and far and wide in Beleriand the whisper went that, under wood and over stream and through the passes of the hills, saying that the Helm and Bow that had fallen in Dimbar had arisen again beyond hope.'

Okay, now that I'm not loaded up on caffeine (oooh...pretty colors...*Smacks face into computer screen*), and can see the pic clearly, I must say I made a rather grievous mistake in my last comment. Now that I look at it, the guy looking at the sword seems rather thoughtful, instead of ignorant. I'm glad you see it that way now. Though I must admit, your original analysis made quite an impression on my mind, the more I looked at it and pondered your words!

I love the color in this one! Most of your pictures are dark and moody, but here you tackled a brighter scene and it looks great! Your mountains are nicely Tolkienish.Thanks.

I love your art! I have yet to try and draw tolkien, maybe someday...Great job with the colors and the shading, and I really like that background, something that I certainly can't do. *sniff* Poor Turin! And Beleg! That was one of the saddest stories!Ah yes you're right, what a sad story. Thanks a lot.

Argh....poor Turin. I nearly cried when he killed Beleg. Actually, when I look at this pic it seems to me that for a moment Turin knows that a curse that lies upon him and that he will die by the sword that he wields.
It's a very nice picture, as are all the pictures in your gallery. I'm not sure about the mountain on the right, it looks more like an iceberg. Maybe if the base didn't have snow but some barren dirt and a few trees then leading up to snow it will look more natural. Just a suggestion. But it's a nice pic, keep up the great work!Actually, this is a very old piece now, so things don't look as good as I'd like them too. But it's okay. The mountains are covered in mist more than snow, but oh well 2.
Thanks a lot.

Who is Turin and Beleg, and what book are they in? I,ve never heard of them before.Túrin Turambar, a man of the First Age, and his great friend, the elf Beleg, can both be found in 'The Silmarillion' and 'Unfinished Tales'. Túrin's tale is one of the most important of the First Age. He is the cousin of Elrond's grandfather, Tuor.

Isimply love it. This really brings back memories when I foirst read the Silmarillion when I was 10 years old. Way before I had read LOTR or the Hobbit. I thin I'll print this one out and frame it in my room. Is it okay?2Certainly. But you do know that many of these images are available to buy in large format, and on high-quality paper? Moreover, the original of this very piece is available. And thank you for the comment, I hasten to add. It's quite unusual for one to read 'The Silmarillion' first, but it's by no means detrimental in the slightest!

Oh I don't get to se Anglachel. Is this before he gets it. Meh whatever. Cool. Maby you should do a drawing of him in his dwarf mask that would be cool. Sort of a Dark image with lots of dust. Maby some orcs Quailing in fear. Then have the passage from the book that describes him in his armor and mask. You're right, this is before Turin wields Anglachel. In fact, Beleg holds it at this point, and you can see the sword hung at his side in the background (so strictly speaking, you do get to see it). I like the passage you refer to, and may paint the scene one day.
