SciFi and Fantasy Art: Turambar finds Nienor on Haudh-en-Elleth'But it was a great storm of thunder that came up from the south, and in terror she cast herself down upon the mound of Haudh-en-Elleth, stopping her ears from the thunder; but the rain smote her and drenched her, and she lay like a wild beast that is dying. There Turambar found her, as he came to the Crossings of Taiglin, having heard rumour of Orcs that roamed near; and seeing in a flare of lightening the body as it seemed of a slain maiden lying upon the mound of Finduilas he was stricken to the heart.' | | | | | Date | Name | Comment | | | 18 Jun 2004 | Sajaca | hannah: um... not wishing to offend darling, but, as the artist has clearly stated in the title, this is Nienor. Peter: this is a very well done picture. i love turambar's expression - very tender and concerned. absolutely beautiful. i also like the way that nienor is the only light-colored thing in the picture. it really draws attention to her fragility and brings a wonderful contrast against turambar and his men. as a side note, good job on her breasts. they look real. by real i should clarify: she is not too busty, and said bust looks realistic. the latter seems to be a challenge to most men. (and yes, in case you couldn't tell i'm female.) anyway, well done.Thank you very much for the comment. I appreciate it. As for the breasts, I'm not a fan of portraying huge, 'silicone' ones in Tolkien's tale. I don't find it particularly appropriate to the subject matter. | |
| 16 Nov 2004 | Anonymous | Wow. Beautiful drawing, especially in the faces of Turin and his men. The story of Turin and Niniel is my favorite part of the Silmarillion. So tragic.Indeed, it is an extremely tragic tale, and one of my favourites also. Thanks for the comment. | |
| 12 Jan 2005 | GAHAGAH | PEET your on elfwood and deviantart??? lolYep. What's so funny about that? Are they both mutually exclusive or something? | |

| 11 Feb 2006 | Benedict T. Isaac | Oh! and Nienor shouldn't be lying so relaxed, and she should be thinner. She lived in the forest for a long time you know, and she was afraid of the storm, and this position is not showing that. As far as I know Ted Nasmith's illustration is closer to what i mean. (sorry, this wasn't quite clear, was it). It's all down to interpretation I guess. She wasn't in the forest for that long by all accounts, it's not like she lived in the wilderness for weeks upon weeks. As for her lying 'relaxed', I challenge you to lay down any other way after having blacked out . | |
| 11 Feb 2006 | Benedict T. Isaac | Should we tell that guy with that stupid name, who commented befor me, that about 10 percent of elfwood artists are also at Deviantart. As you wish... | |
| 11 Aug 2006 | Rebecca Jade Rundmann | Awesome pic. Just a thought, shouldn't Nienor be a bit more dirty (as in she's just run through the forest with no clothes on and it's raining) and her face should look more troubled. Anyway just a thought. I wish I was half as talented as you. | |
| 10 Sep 2006 | Caitlynn C. Didlick (Varda) | Wow, great job, it is by far one of the best that i have seen! I love how you make it look so real with the earthy colors, instead of like a bright green. You are a very talented artist! Too bad i can't sign on to my account, so that you can just click my link! But yes it is very good, wish i could draw like that!!! | |
| 15 Jul 2008 | Lauren Julia Bryant | This picture really shows how your already incrediable talent has improved. For one thing, I love the color and depth you have used to capture your characters, and I’m deeply impressed you’ve brought such emotion into this scence. This 100% quality work, and you should be really proud of it. | |
