SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Two Trees of Valinor

'Under her song the saplings grew and became fair and tall, and came to flower; and thus there awoke in the world the Two Trees of Valinor. Of all things which Yavanna made they have most renown, and about their fate all the tales of the Elder days are woven.
The one had leaves of dark green that beneath were as shining silver, and from each of his countless flowers a due of silver light was ever falling, and the earth beneath was dappled with the shadows of his fluttering leaves. The other bore leaves of a young green like the new-opened beech; their edges were of glittering gold. Flowers swung upon her branches in clusters of yellow flame, formed each to a glowing horn that spilled a golden rain upon the ground; and from the blossom of that tree there came forth warmth and a great light.'

Wonderful as usual...The lighting..The color...The vision... 2 just one question...Who are the two figures bewteen them (besides maiar, valar, or elves!) anyone in mind???I consider that at least one of the four figures (if you include those in the further background) must be Yavanna, since she is mentioned primarily in the chosen excerpt. As for the others? It's solely up to the individual. 12

Im glad to see that the 2 trees are starting to get some more attention. It's about time too! 12

the way you have managed to make the Two Trees radiate light is just amazing. in fact, i can't look at this pic for a very long time - it's too bright for my eyes.. 1 Ah, perhaps some sunglasses are in order? Thanks a lot.

Excellent use of colors. This picture was a bit of a shock for me, both because of the vibrant coloring and because I have never before seen another image of the trees as they were growing, and I've always pictured them as delicate saplings, maybe 5 feet in height. But they are much more beautiful as mature trees.I understand where you're coming from, but it would be rather difficult for the Trees to radiate light across the vast expanse of Valinor if they were not at least somewhat large, in my opinion. In fact, some have stated that they are not large enough in this picture. Oh well, each to his own, thank you very much nonetheless.

YES! YES! I have tried to capture the same beauty myself, but failed. Oohhh, I have not any owrds for this marvel. Truly, Tolkien would be proud. Truly. You should be proud. Ah, thank you very much. Your kind words are very flattering, and indeed make me feel proud of this. Thank you so much again.

Wow! Dude! That is excellent! Trees are one of my artistic weeeknesses! But they must be your strong point considering the pictureWell, I do really enjoy drawing trees, so I guess that helps! Thank you.

This is lovely. I've always wanted to see someone's depiction of the Trees of Valinor. Now if you could draw that one tower that they built that melted.. or something. Its been more than a year since I've read the Silmarrilion.Thank you very much indeed. I can't seem to recall which tower you mean though, unfortunately ... perhaps you could be a bit more specific.

That damned Morgoth destroyed the trees. He is on the top row of my most hated villains, allong with Darth Sidius (Starwars) and Lord Harke (Heroes of Might and Magic IV - the tale of Elvyn and Shaera). Haha! Yeah, Melkor is definitely up there with the likes...

the two Trees are, oddly enough, two of my absolute favourite tolkien-characters. As i am unable to draw them myself (i don't want to ruin them, not even on a piece of paper 10) i have looked for a long time after paintings that accords with my imagination, and now i have found it!
they're really majestic!!Hello there, and thank you for this wonderful comment even if it took me an age to answer! 12
