| 29 Jul 2006 | Anne Wipf | A wonderful illustration of the LOTR. I love the trees and how the light springs behind them : Gandald looks really like a source of white light.Thank you very much indeed. | |
| 31 Jul 2006 | Jenny Schreiber | Great illustration! Love your cool style, the details are amazing! Thanks a lot for taking the time to comment, it's greatly appreciated. | |
| 6 Aug 2006 | Hana Běťáková | What can I tell you? You've probably heard it all before... You really make wonderful trees. I like the light. And the way we look at the scene through the trees. Though I always imagined THIS one with not so many trees - you know, like opening in the middle of thick forest... The opening little bit bigger than on your picture. Never mind, I love your style. This scene takes place on Treebeard's Hill, so whilst I agree there wouldn't be many trees at the centre of the scene, I imagined there'd be some around them. Thanks for the comment, as always I'm very grateful. | |
| 1 Oct 2006 | Raevus | LEGOLAS HAS BLONDE HAIR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not brown!! other wise its goodI personally believe Legolas to have darker hair than blonde, but nonetheless thanks for the comment. | |
| 30 Oct 2006 | Satya | Hehe... I finally get to comment on this. Thanks for passing me the link, I'd seen the picture earlier on your Deviant Art gallery, but couldn't comment on it cause I'm not a deviant. I feel quite honoured that this was done at my request. Thanks again! And I have to say I'm not disappointed. =D Not quite how I expected the seup to be, but that's not a bad thing. This is more interesting. The trees in the extreme foreground add to the realism of the picture. Otherwise I've seen versions where the picture looks too designed and unnatural. I like how Gandlaf seems to be emitting light, without you actually having to make the rest of the forest look too dark in contrast (though a darker Fangorn would have been fine as well). I suspect this kind of subtlety is one of the things you enjoy about watercolours. You LOVE knarly trees, don't you? Well, you clearly had a field day with this one. But yes, highly appropriate for Fangorn. Gandalf reminds me a bit of Moses though. A gust of wind seems to be coming out from him towards the Three Hunters. Hehe.
PS to Raevus: Legolas blonde or brown-haired? Not very clear, highly debatable. There are plenty of other artworks in Peter's gallery here where it's been debated before. You should go check them out for yourself. Don;t just take my word for it. =) | |
| 16 Dec 2006 | Dagmar Jung | The big risk about this particular scene is to make it kitschy in a pseudo-religious way. I am pleased to see you have avoided this trap with ease. | |
