SciFi and Fantasy Art: Leaving

This picture was created during a class on Micro-biology. I still remember every word the teacher said, sort of. Anyhow, the picture describes a scene from my story. The Heroes, all Elves, leave their homeland Impires. The picture shows the Border crossing. To the left is a waterfall, and ahead a bridge that crosses the river. On the other side are the two Border Markers. The picture is a straight forward Ink drawing.

6 Aug 1998	Liz (Z 10 - Loth 38)	Loading... I like this one, very peaceful, serene. I would agree with the varying line values - but still the pic is wonderful.
6 Aug 1998	Ahati	Loading... My only other observation is that you might want to try experimenting with line wieght. The nearer an object the harder you press with the pin hence the darker the line, and the farther away the object the lighter the pressure it recieves and hence a lighter color. In this drawing this technique would give the impression of the ground below the bridge falling away and appearing very distant, whereas now with everything approximately the same "weight" it stands very near together and doesn't appear to have much depth.

I always had the impression that Elves were from Ireland..(or just looked that way!) and this really sets it in concrete for me It looks like what i think would be a fantasy irish countryside, with orcs and the like hiding behind a boulder..(or is that just coz im listening to enya here?..) heh..great pic just for a sketch! i would have scribble marks everywhere, and nothing would look like it was supposed to !!
